So my experience is nowt new.

Utter pish.

So if you have a baby in a pram, you'll not get served because the assumption will be made you're giving a 6 month old child Jack Daniels?

I waited untill they'd started primary school, any earlier is just wrong.

I have bought vino on quite a few occasions with my baby daughter hanging off my arm at the time. It would appear the staff in my local Asda are either unaware of such rules / laws, or have that rare attribute these days, common sense! :cheers

My wife works at Tesco and the problem the stores have is the number 'test' purchases made by trading standards. They're far more frequent and systematic than you might think.

The rules are maybe not that straight forward, but do allow for a degree of discretion and judgement. But they must not have ANY reason to believe you are buying on behalf of someone underage. Usually that boils down to not selling to anyone who looks underage, or is with anyone who looks underage, where alcohol is the main, or only item. They are allowed to serve, if they believe them to be a family, and it is part of a larger shop.

Thanks David, that actually clarifies things.

So I really fell into prime category for this, buying only a bottle, and with a borderline young man with me, he looks older than 14, being so facking tall

Lidl are still a shower of sh*ts in my book :blackeye
