It'll be mine to build over Christmas when I don't want to think about work and for others to play with when they visit. Black Friday cut the price by 40%, no logical reason, just another marketing tool, but thanks.
That's the only thing I was scouting for on Black Friday, but best price I saw anywhere was still £150 (John Lewis - and not specifically Black Friday) which didn't tempt me. 40% off is very impressive. Where did you get it for that?

Jadlam Racing Models, you have to go to the checkout and put in the code BF25R to see the discount, its a bit confusing, because they sometimes show a reduced price and you think that is the BF price. Ironically Black Friday ends on Monday night so plenty time. I think this was around £120

:thumbsup Ah, so 25% not 40%. (I note all their Technic prices are > RRP !) Still a decent discount, will consider, thanks.

Totally agree - if I *had* to commute back and forth by flying I would also develop these techniques because it's better than being like the rest of the sheep - but instead I use the train when I go to London and relax knowing that it goes every 20 minutes and it doesn't matter which one I get, really :-)

BTW, last time I was at Stansted it was like a zoo with nowhere to sit (all planes delayed, people everywhere) - I discovered it has a pay lounge - 25 quid - includes food and (non alcoholic) drink. Quiet and pleasant - so if you're having to spend time there and don't care about the 25 quid, make a beeline for the VIP lounge - cannot remember what it's called - you get there by heading between the pubs/restaurants for the loos and they are off the same corridor.

Cheers,
Robin

I obviously didn't do as much research as you. Generally it seemed to be £200, so £120 was good enough and I didn't check further. I didn't check very hard, but there is a 2014 and a 2015 version. I believe they are different and the 2015 had the pneumatics or improvement of. Worsen than cars!

Agree about the train, a much more civilised way to travel. I run our Belgium office so I'm out there every month. I can leave my house at 6am and be in our office by 11.30 which includes getting a local train from central Brussels out to our office rather than a taxi.

<clears throat>

You are all wrong. Flying is the best way to travel because it is like the future.

Trains are smelly and crash all the time. Fact. (Probably).

Black Friday is ace because I got a Cannondale CaadX bike for our daughter for 50% off. (Although I just got an email that it wasn't available anymore).

The necessity of false security in airports has ruined them.

On the continued thread drift of train/air travel...

The difference in travel time from Edin city centre to centre of London (near piccadilly) between was 20 minutes in a trial I did with one of my managers last month. We both left the office at the same time mid afternoon - I walked do Waverley and he got a cab to the airport for a London City flight. In the end he arrived at the hotel only 20 mins ahead of me but I had by far the least stressful journey. Clealry a lot of variables re allowed check in time, flight delays etc but this was a typical journey without any notable delays by either of us. Train every time if you can for London travel :thumbsup

Top Gear style races for the win :-)

Agree DJ. Not a lot in it. Though if starting from the styx, or needing to be there before 10am, and the train gets tricky. I do like its simplicity though.

Anytime we head to London it is invariably on the overnight sleeper these days.
10 min drive up to the station, jump on the train at 9.30pm at Montrose, tucked up in bed and sound asleep before Dundee then woken up with breakfast at 7ish before the train pulls into London. Similar in reverse direction. Luv it!!
Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Wanted: Train.

20 minutes to the airport.
5 minutes to the airbridge (there's a short cut if you know where to look)

A PLANE which FLIES in the AIR and is AMAZING.

Arrive in EGLC.

Whilst you losers are still travelling in the Victorian era.

Yes, but the victorians had more fun. You don't get proper servants on planes, just people trying to sell you perfume and what not. If you go on a proper train you get a personal servant who will look after your every whim. And all for only £5,000 quid one way. Free pork pie thrown in. :-)

Bought Lindsay some new glasses today. Vision express wanted £319 + £60 for anti scratch type lenses. Fashion eyeware had the same ones with -20% off = £181 total.

If you ware glasses they are worth a look. I bought a pair of oakleys for £80 that were £219 at vision express.
