I'm sure it's fast and comfortable and refined and well equipped but I still don't want one.

I tested an m235 before buying my v8 m3 and whilst fast, comfortable, refined and well equipped it was far less interesting than the m3. I've just sold my m3 because it was just too dull.

No way I'd spend £44k on one of these.

Quite.

There was me thinking that the new "realistically priced" new TVR was going to be 40-45k. I contemplated a deposit but too few details at the time. It's over £70k!

Mercedes A45 AMG to blame - it was a lot more expensive than it's rivals when launched, now all the others are bringing their prices up to that level too. Greedy feckers.

S3 as daily driver (good all rounder, debadged just looks like A3, 4 wheel drive for wet / winter weather and is quick enough on normal roads. Exige for fun :-). Just have to wait to wait for the s3 to be built.....

M135i sits very nicely for us, short wheelbase RWD and loads of torque it does oversteer by you have to really prod it. Serious amount of go from next to no rpm, averaging about 30mpg overall, ours is a manual, as good as the ZF box is, wife and I prefer the manual. It does need a diff if driven hard, have had an e46 M3 and an E12 M535i, this doesn't disappoint. Drove it back to back with the Elise last week, different cars both make you smile in different ways. M135i debadged just looks like a 116d, I like that. Nice six banger note, not got the rasp of the S54, but does crack and bang between changes.

Dom, I think we have a similar fleet. I drive a LwB kombi as my daily, m135i as wife's car and he 111s for fun.

I have owned over a dozen fast quattros, as faults are incredible but on the road are all 8/10ths cars ultimately they will understeer, the rs3 engine note is music to my ears, but felt the m135i was just more suited to our driving. We run winters on all cars which makes it an all year round car.

Brother in law just bought an S3 so will report on that. Golf R actually rather good as well. Loads of choice for pocket rockets at the moment, but I am clinging onto RWD! I love the GT86 for the same reasons, if only it could fit actual people in the back seats.

The change of car is a story for another day...

As of next week, my fleet is, Elise S1 Sport135, 2014 Fiesta ST and 2015 Merc E class. Fiesta & Merc will be shared with the Mrs, but I like the looks of the elise so keep it to myself  :D

TBH was not really on my radar, but had a deal on a new car pointed out to me that seemed too good to be true. Pretty high spec, and equivalent jag (first option) or audi with same spec would have cost considerably more. Test drove it and really liked it, so went for it. Was intended for family duties and for Mrs S to use, but think I will be taking it quite often too for some waft-tastic motoring. :thumbsup I know of a couple of other SE'rs who have them too - they may be able to pass comment on the ownership experience.

I'm really enjoying the E class I bought earlier this year, especially the 500bhp aspect. Hugely useful estate. I'm sure we should have all bought skodas.
