£300 deposit, £105/month, and it's not bread & butter spec, no brainer in my book.

And beloved sproglet runs around in something which offers reasonable safety.
This all makes sense to me but SWMBO was very clear that she would not be driving rollerskate, But 80/90 quid a month for a safe, I loved the idea of him kicking around in a classic, but now I would prefer safer....

130pd engine too pokey for first car I suspect. Aiming for something biblically slow! Perhaps. Plain old diesel 205/Jetta. Drove kne not so long ago and forgot how bloody slow diesels used to be!

Get her a 1.0 Nissan Micra - she'll hate you for the rest of her life, ugly and slow and a good mix of plastic and cloth!!

My WiFi here isn't allowing access to Skoda.co.uk so don't know what the current offers are but I managed a few hundred off list price and 0% finance from Specialist Cars in Dundee (absolute pleasure to deal with btw - thanks Andy!)

5 door SE in tornado red (yes, VW colour) so exactly like below. The wee thing amazes me, VW-like inside, spacious enough for all four of us (two adult-size teenagers), and a boot big enough for a hefty Tesco visit. It really is a perfect city car.

And yoofs can stripe it up etc and fit a tomtom thing on the dash too.

One of my neices just got a good deal on an Up! so don't rule those out either, couple of nicers interior touches, but the deal for us in April '14 was far better for the Skoda. The SEAT Mii wasn't offering anything like as good a deal, plus the sales chappie was a w@nker.

I just did a business lease on an UP! and it was ludicrously cheap - £102+vat a month, 3 year term with 15k miles and £600+vat deposit. I drove one a few years ago and as above it was quite a nice wee car. A red one was going to be £92+vat a month but wanted white as company logo is black.
