Is that the Team Dynamics wheels or Lotus ones on that car?

I believe that you can be stopped which is why we were advised to take it off after Competitions, or if going out on the road between races.

I never bothered as you kept your number for the season and was never questioned. Plus it looked cool and fooled people into thinking that I was an ace racing driver, and was a good chat up start with the birds. Not that you needed one with an Elise and the looks of a Greek God........

Don't remember the reason but when I was rallying we always taped across the numbers if you were driving the car home after the event. Seem to recall it wasn't a legal thing but had something to do with insurance :?

I think it is a legal thing. We have always had to at least put a tape line through numbers after rallies.

Just remembered, I used to do that if I remembered or could be assed, so not very often.

As someone who drove around in a full rally rep Evo I made sure I was up to date on the regs.

There is nothing in law to stop you having numbers on the doors or anywhere else. The reason folk participating in rallies put a line through them is usually a regulation of the rally organiser to indicate that, at that time, the vehicle isn't participating in the rally. No legal reason.

I'm with Jim on that one. Always had a feeling it was rally regs not dee law.

Cars with numbers above (and your yellow one Steve) are Cup R so not road legal...

Depends on if they are official race roundels and numbers or are a design on the car.

Ie. Youre not going to get pulled with the number 53 on the side of your vw beetle...
