Yep, I see this more as an attempt to destabilise the Putin regime, rather than any US / OPEC specific bun fight... The Americans are happy to drive the price low, because it meets their political goals.

One way to invest in oil is to buy an Oil Exchange Traded Fund - you just need a regular brokerage account

Gamble is a strong word... At 200:1 leverage and the ability to use a stock portfolio as collateral, what could possibly go wrong.

Steve's right, eventually you are going to double through. May take a year or 18mths but name a bank that will give you that sort of return. Defo worth a punt :)

If that's the case, a few people should do quite well... I might try it for a small amount of money then kick myself if it does double in said timeframe (or less)

one fact you can't ignore is it is a finite resource and will eventually run out there for it will become more expensive. Unless someone launches an viable alternative fuel in the not to distant future that can also be turned into plastic etc.

I am not convinced you can buy oil without (eventually) taking delivery of it (or selling it just before). I don't believe anybody will actually sell you one barrel of oil, and if they did, I doubt anyone would buy it back off you 18 months from now.

Cheers,
Robin
