Sounds like the same as what I have - Does the job for 99% of the time.

Not long before my 10+ yr old Dell Dimension gets a similar reincarnation, I think. Just need to bend space-time to fit it in!

No. It's a desktop.

At airports I wave around my revered Asus Zenbook which is easily mistaken for a MacBook Air but cost me 70% less than the aforesaid

Random one - anyone in / near Aberdeen with a copy / disc of Windows Vista? Got the product key on the underside, but replaced the HD (rather than going for a new laptop) but no recovery disc thing...

The ISO files (DVD images) for Windows 7 are available online via the Microsoft / Digitalriver website.
However I can't find Vista, maybe they deleted the ISO's since they don't sell it any more?

Unfortunately Microsoft don't seem to offer downloads for Windows 8.
