I run outdoor events and regularly spend hundreds of pounds on petrol and diesel to be used in generators, so that idea is flawed unfortunately.

Not any more of a flaw than taxing an Elise to have it sit in the drive on rainy days.

I have a day to day A4 the Elise and a 90. I can only drive one at a time but have to tax them all. I think that's a greater flaw.

Sorry didn't mean to dismiss your idea, just it would have to factor in for those who weren't using the fuel for the road. I drive the elise everyday including in the wet, just with a bit more care.

We hire the diesel gennys it's more the petrol instances I was referring to :)

Anyone got any thoughts on what to do with the empty tax disk holders? I've got a rather nice stainless steel Club Lotus holder, so don't want to chuck it.
SE emblem perhaps? - something along the lines of the saltire image at the top of the page (except round).

I wonder if this will mean greater stringency on having a front number plate.
I lived in london when the congestion charge came in, prior to it my stick on plate on the Elise was fine but the rozzers got more and more ancy about it. I would imagine it will be mandatory up here.

There is also healthy number plate crime in london. As prev mentioned stealing plates from identical cars. I recall seloc discussing special security screws for plates.

As per, the laws and more importantly the fines generally only affect the honest folk. The crooked folk generally don't or can't pay and are too much hassle for plod to chase.

Oh Jesus, can of worms there. 70% of them will want a Union Jack.

I used to keep my number plates in a safe place, rather than on the front of my car which was fine for years then about 2 years ago I was getting pulled every couple of weeks - until some chaps from traffic moaned that it meant there machine didn't work if I didn't have a number plate (they had one of the cameras poking out of the top of their estate car that was ANPR) and made it clear if they saw me again with it in the boot they wouldn't be as understanding.

So the DVLA intend to collect an extra month of tax for every vehicle sold.

So if i sell my civic, the new owner has to tax before they drive away........how can they do that without insurance? or does it just check that someone has insurance on the car ?
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?
