Fan boost is genius!

"Chantelle from Droitwich will be racing nude this year and has a fan boost of 709! She likes romantic walks and men who like motor racing. Press your red button to give her a poke..."

Ok I think I read the same article as Shug, read fan boost, read what it was. Read what it was again.
Returned to my pipe and complaining about the state of the modern world.

Why don't they build slotted tracks and have them run on that. You could make the tracks temporary and configure them how you like. After you get bored with building different tracks you start crashing the cars into things and launching them off ramps.

Actually laughing out loud at that.

And we could all control them from home using our smart phones! I mean we wouldn't even have to really control them they could just tell us we were controlling them, via the premium features in the app.

Oh Kelvin we are going to be sooooooo rich!

Surely if each car had a windmill on top then it could just recharge the battery as it went (wind permitting).

...or how about leaving them all plugged in to the national grid, via really long extension cords?

I hear they're replacing the barriers with skirting boards and using cranes with big hands to put them back on the track ;-)

The fuel stops would be interesting. Splash and have a cup of tea and wee nap while the car re-charges.

I'm not averse to change but I'm old fashioned in that I want my race cars to go brum. I recall my first ever F1 race at Silverstone and how awesome the noise was. I took a step back from the fence when the first cars came by. They were so loud you could feel the downshifting engine backfires in the pit of your stomach. I guess there should be a place for everything and maybe Formula E has its place in the longer term and leccy cars become more commonplace.

Fan boost as a concept sucks big time. I also think they should have insisted that the cars make some sort of whistling or wooshing noise. Crowds will need to identify with the experience of watching in a way silent cars will struggle to acheive.

Suspend an electrified mesh about 2 metres above the track, equip each car with a pantograph or similar pick up and the marshalls will just should not to bump into each other and keep going anti-clockwise....

Surely the pit stop should be for a battery swap out, not a whole car.

Agree re fan boost

Cars actually do whistle/whoosh and fairly loudly too ( relatively speaking ) but it's never going to stir emotion on an aural level like F1 did/ does :?

Good point, timed battery swap instead of tyres.

Spanner men lighting up as they short out 10,000 volts.

I thought the future in green energy production is marine current power.

So if they build an aqueduct alongside the track...
