Saj,

May be worth popping into the Jaguar dealership on Glasgow Road as sure they were a performance corvette dealer for a while. Maybe some of the guys their can offer some advice.

Looks a great car but concern would be residuals, lots of money lost on the US cars come resale time (or at least a long wait for the right buyer)

Thanks, I'll check them out.

From a residual point of view they are actually pretty good as the previous Z06 is holding on to between 45 - 50% of the original price. But I think you've hit the nail on the head with regards to a buyer as it isn't exactly a car that a lot of people would be looking for.

I guess if I bought one it would seriously have to be my last full on performance car for a good number of years as I'm currently child free and if kids come along at some point then that will be the end for a while as my sure they'll put a serious drain on my finances.

Also I'm not sure Mrs Mohammad will have much more patience for my non stop car addiction. I've got plenty of time to think about this though as it isn't due out in the states until next year and it will probably be closer to the end of next year that I'd have to wait to order one anyway. Again this is all assuming it doesn't cost me a kidney to buy one in which case I'll happily stick with the Evora.

I'd get a V8 Ftype or a used v10 r8:-)
The Corvette would be LHD ? That would do my head in:-(

I'll save the Jag for my later years :P there was one at the TT meet this past Sunday and it sounded so nice. With a new R8 coming next year I'm not sure the appeal of the current one would stick for me. I don't know if this happens to anyone else but when a current model is around and is then replaced with a newer one the previous one just looks old. I don't think Lotus cars suffer from this much but Audi's do. A typical example would be the face lifted RS5, it just looks so much nicer than the previous one.

The LHD thing would put quite a few people off but I'd most likely spec the auto version which would make it fairly easy to adjust to. There are the various downsides of course such as NCP car parks and having to get out, run around to the ticket machine and the run back and get in the car again. I'm sure there are plenty more issues like blind spots etc too.

The convertible v8 ftypes are pretty cheap used. Rhd better interior and a better dealer network. I wanted to replace my evora and couldnt think of a car to tempt me without spending silly money:-( i ended up buying a Westfield for open air fun and kept my evora. I know Westfields arnt everybody's cup of tea..but serious bang for your buck (mine is about 300bhp/ton)

The coupe should be pretty good value next year too (I like the look of the coupe more). That's the great thing about Jags, the depreciate so much that after a year or two they are great used buys :D

I think I'd prefer to stick with the Evora over the 370z. Not really more power that I'm after - I just love the look of the new Z06, add to that the V8 and that there will be very few about makes it an appealing proposition for me - again price dependent.

Just remember SAE and DIN horsepower are two different measurements - IIRC there's about 20% difference, so in European measurements the Corvette power output would be about 500 hp (still more than adequate)
Tony - I'm afraid you're wrong.

The difference is less than 2%, and the other way...so 650hp SAE is around 660hp DIN (or metric), which in turn is about 485kw

Say what now? :D

Well out of date indeed.

The figures quoted for the current corvette are current, funnily enough :D

...and are the current imperial figures, so 659hp (imp)

I'm guessing it's cheaper to buy one in the staes and import as opposed to walking into an Arnold shark in linwood?
