I would have wanted to know so I could at least have decided whether or not to post it on all the usual places (PH, Facebook etc). So many cars get found that way. Sucks either way.

Sorry to hear about this as you must be absolutely gutted.

Don't know whether you want the car back now but may be worthwhile putting the reg out/details out on Pistonheads in case anyone spots it being driven locally.

George

George - I put this one Pistonheads Gassing - Scotland
Someone emailed me to say they saw it on the M9 - heading under the Newbridge underpass - thro the speed camera towards M9 North.,
he didnt see if it went left to the Forth Road Bridge or straight on to Falkirk / stirling.
car also was low on fuel......
as its got 372bhp...... it likes to drink it when getting hammered
wonder if they fueled it up anywhere ?

David,

Difficult one as if it went North then they could have fuelled up at Bridge (Shell/BP). However I doubt whether the police would follow up and look at any garage CCTV tapes?

Doubt they would go that far.
Crime isn't big enough for them to put that much effort into looking for it.

Nobody steals a car and then uses their own cash or credit card to fill it with petrol!
Likely they will have used a stolen credit card at which point the garage will view the video tapes and pass the registration to the police.
Assuming they hadn't fitted cloned plates you'll likely get a call from the police asking if you'd been driving!

Gutted for you, what are the recovery rates for things like this? How did the actualyl nick it without keys? I though that apart from that Aberdoom gang and their Audi trick it was pretty tough to nick a modern car?

Time to look at a replacement?

Sanjoy,
- The key was in the ignition with the engine running.
The mechanic was working on the car - running a diagnostic check with his machine plugged into the car.,
The car was INSIDE the garage.
His landline phone rang, so he walked 10 feet to pick it up & someone walked in & drove it away!
He thought it was one of his mechanics moving it - then he realised what had happened,
Apparently the thief was standing outside spying on him waiting for his moment

Totally understand, and whilst Leith still has its share of undesirables, it's a shame it has happened to this garage.

One of my Facebook chums said he saw a car matching yours with an A4 plate in granton area last night.... He said it caught his eye as it was a BM with what to him looked like a plate for an Audi.
Looks like it could still be local? And surely to God the theif isn't stupid enough to be driving the car on it's original plates around the area he stole it from? Might just be coincidence though?
