My advice, for the avoidance of doubt, is to insure only what you cannot afford to lose. Assuming you don't have a spare house or cash to buy one, you should probably insure your house. Probably.

Right, that makes a lot more sense now as I think about it. I'll re-insure it first thing. Does this mean that the poor should carry more insurance than the rich?

Are you liable if my house burns down, sinks or falls over in the mean time?

Grab a marker pen and write 'CE' all over the house. That'll give you peace of mind for tonight… ;-)

It probably does - but that's not my fault, I think.
