What happened to our winter?

Post by flyingscot68 » Wed Dec 11, 2013 8:03 am

Nov 16th 2010 was the BIG snow day.
Took my sister in law 13hrs to get home to East Kilbride from Motherwell, most of Central Scotland was gridlocked.
The next day we were out with all our neighbours for hours clearing the street. We had tea and coffee, then the mulled wine and mince pies came out. Was a great day for a bit of community spirit.
I would like some snow but not quite as much as we got that day.

We were coming back from the SE/PH pre Christmas party thing in Stirling. Got down the M80 just before they shut it. Audi was epic fun. Much to Elaine's consternation as I was trying to 4 wheel drift everywhere it was remotely practical (and I wasn't going to take someone out when I got it wrong!)

As per Shug, got separated from Alan G then picked up a puncture 100 miles from home in the Honda Civic, no spare so drove it all the way back on the snow flat as a pancake, the wheel was not damaged and the tyre could have been plugged.

Noticed a guy this morning in his MX5 with the roof down and travelling in towards Aberdeen at 06:15 today.

I might have to take the winter tyres off of Kathys car if it gets any warmer.

It was 12.7 degrees at Dyce at 0400 this morning.

We actually do get colder summer night......Must be global warming / climate change, or whatever it is called nowadays. Any moment now I am waiting for a politicain and scientist to appear on my flatscreen TV and inform me that they need to have central and local funding to prove that gobal cooling is underway and it has been for the past 100 years and it is necessary to beware of Eastasia, believe in English Socialism and never commit a thoughtcrime, or you will be cast into room 101.

1984 was a few years back now but I am sure it is sometimes just around the corner.
