Steady!Andy G wrote:apologies for the boring chat, but you will also NEVER go to the petrol station again - those things run about 60mpg!

Assuming it's the 170bhp then it's the same engine as my Octavia.
Will get 55mpg on a run, maybe 60 if you tread very lightly but over a tank 45mpg is what you can expect.
Still excellent for the performance but not 60mpg frugal unfortunately.

My 640d does 38mpg - what are you doing to it?pete wrote:Struggling to see 30 so far. Comfy though.
And it gets that with a fair bit of country road blasting on a daily basis.
Your Audi should see about 600 miles to a tank.

Thread resurrection.
50 mpg my arse, now I don't deny in theory it would do 50 but in practice I struggled to see 40. And if driven in a spirited fashion I got it down to 27.
And you know, whilst lovely to be in it had wayyy too much grip for it's power and, when pressed, a tendency to understeer and very little else. And once the novelty had worn off I don't like DSG boxes...
And Mr McApe assures me his Golf got 39 to the gallon. And that's a petrol! And I wouldn't feel guilty about sticking bikes in it as it already a tad careworn.
So I sold the Audi and bought a Golf!
From Neil!
And it was equally painless (although Craig sells you a clean car). A couple of worries at the start which Neil was ace about and now I have a Golf!
Which is far more me.
But it is does like a drink...

I'm with Pete, my GTi enjoyed a drink - spent most of it's time in the mid 20's mpg.
Great car though!

My passat 2.0tdi 140, manual usually gives me 50MPG on commute Edinburgh to Dunfermline but I can get 59.5MPG if I'm careful, think I have a pic somewhere of it saying average 60.2MPG but that was driving like my dad trying to max out the MPG to see what was doable.. I can't understand why your A3 was so bad?

It wasn't the car, I have an uncluttered commute and I'm always running late. If I sat at 70 it used hardly any fuel...mwmackenzie wrote:. I can't understand why your A3 was so bad?

Re: White Good. (New car and thanks content).
Never saw as high as 39. I would get about 32 on motorway, and as you say 23ish otherwise. Around 7mpg on track.pete wrote:Yeah I got he paint fixed and cleaned it and now it does between 33 (motorway) and 28. OK 23. OK on the drive home last night it was 18.3.

If i was paying for that gas mileage i'd be wanting something tastier than a golf to drive.... that's M3 territory surely?Dominic wrote:Never saw as high as 39.
