I had an exige, found it a bit like a whistling kettle under acceleration. Therefore I fitted a trd box, just to try and make it sound like a real car.
Also I never really felt that I got near the limit of the car, never got out and thought - I really pushed the car there, although more often than not I did realise I had been close to my own limit, and the car was still very much in it's comfort zone.
Doesn't make for a memoralble drive, being constantly reminded how inferior you actually are.
I'm now back to a tatty S1 and loved it from the second I drove off in it, nearly every drive I feel like i've accomplished something, the torquey engine is a pleasure and the handling better (found the exige front a bit understeery) I giggle at least once every journey.
I haven't driven the elise, but find the torque and low down grunt of the k series part of the attraction of the S1.

I can't help thinking the drive for lower emmisions are ruining many a car, surely the mpg should have a greater overall bearing.
If you are making higher emissions, but going much further on the same fuel, shouldn't that be as important?
The new clio/peugeot/fiesta only do 32-37mpg ?
Surely our scant resources are as important as our emmissions ?
Also, considering they have just thrown the v6 in the exige, grow some balls and give us a bigger engine in the elise ?
I may have gone on a bit and forgotten my point, early doors drinking on a friday i'm afraid

Sorry, havent driven the NEW elise, obviously I have an old one.
I think the newer ones look slightly, effeminate, like they did with the mr2.
It does look a lot nicer that the s2's though, as I personally thought there was too much plastic on the vents, possibly to help airflow, but I prefered the mesh. New one goes back to that, and makes the build quality look far superior.

Will depend on how good a job Dan does with the rebuild as to what I do.. if it is as sweet as he says it is, it will be staying... If I can put up with a standard car again and not find it too slow.. Vicky had 200bhp for a while and when your expect it to be there and it aint, well it might be time to move it on and go for something else.. Done lots of looking, like the idea of a relativly new car again but to get anything thats still under waranty with a supercharger is pushing it well beyond budget. Like the idea of a back to basics S2 but from feedback recieved, too slow..

Changed my S4 avant for a Passat 1.6 diesel estate last year.. The missus likes it and its fine to potter about in but fcuk it's slow.. need for speed is steadily building and I want to get back into a Lotus soon. Considered something else but no.. has to be Lotus...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Owned a CR for a brief spell. Underpowered and spent most of its life on an AA truck. Hope the lad who owns it now has better luck than what I had!

Tried to get some upgrades from Lotus only to get the “parts are on back order” crap from them.

Disappointing – if you have £25k to spend get an Exige.

I daresay a Jim styli exhaust would help on the noise front. And I said on the other thread, the SC price is holding up quite well.
No such whine on the new S, I didn't even notice one. TRD fitted and 2Bular and it now sounds lovely.

We have the 1.6 too and I actually like it as it feels good to be able to blast through all the gearson some of the roads round here. Yes it can feel slower when you have a passenger on board but in the real world it's still a great drive.

Stick on a full 2Bular system and you're looking at an extra 15bhp and a great sound to match. If you feel after a while you need more power then there is a turbo kit for the car which adds about 60bhp I think.

Thanks Saj.

So actually a Supercharger kit. £6k fitted plus an exhaust.

I guess an Elise SC will cost similar to base Club Racer + this kit.

So probably not an obvious route to take, but interesting all the same. Thanks!

I think it is more of an option if say you don't have the funds upfront but want to get in to Lotus ownership now. That way you can enjoy the car and when money becomes less of an issue then just add the kit for more power.

If it was me I would do 2bular year 1 and supercharger year 2.

Didn't have an effect on the Europa and mine had quite a bit done to it.

Also depends on how long you're keeping the car, if say 5 years then resale value after that period of time isn't going to be all that anyway. Yes you don't get your money back for mods but you do mods for self satisfaction and not resale.

Had just written something similar then lost it in Safari!

Anyways, what he said.

Kinda like the idea. Sadly the CR doesn't come in orange...

Does having the 2Bular exhaust fitted not affect your brothers warranty on his new Elise S in any way?

Steve.

Lotus would have to prove the 2Bular was the cause of a problem before denying warranty about something.
