Couldn't find the third one anywhere either.
Prefered James Martin to the overly gushing not so petrol head Patrick Stewart. Both good programs though.

What a fantastic program last night, you forget how good Macrae was. I thought Chris Hoy also came across very well, he clearly loves driving.

Racing Legends: new series
Just watched it on iPlayer. Good program and refreshed memories of some of Colin's antics. Pity Alistair didn't feature, a nice guy.
I remembered Colin pushing Alistair's broken down Nova through one stage with the Legacy. Apparently the Nova had never travelled so fast.

A talent for sure and changed the face of rallying.
It's just frustrating that from the recent enquiry his ego and reckless flying killed him and 3 others.
This actually frustrated my wife when we watched it. I did try and defend it but that's a losing battle.

It's a fair point and the legend will always be tempered by that. To be fair, I don't think the show shied away from the crash - using the full judicial quote as reported on the news. The programme was billed as Chris Hoy's view of the man and as such, hit the spot exactly. Had it totally ignored the fatal crash and tried to make excuses (which it certainly didn't) then it would have been a terrible call. I guess how you feel about McRae, knowing the full details of the crash, is a very personal thing. I can see some people being upset by his almost deification in rallying circles - and TBH, it's their right to be so.Gareth wrote:A talent for sure and changed the face of rallying.

Just a great shame.
Re: Racing Legends: new series
wonder why they didnt show him crashing his 211 at Oulton making that program?

Re: Racing Legends: new series
I thought the programme got it spot on too, and his death is a great loss. Having messed about in both light aircraft and cars, I can under stand the chain of thought that probably led to the accident, it just a lesser man would have chickened out earlier. But that's what made him successful and I think no less of him because of it - albeit a tragedy for those who lost their lives and the families involved.
Re: Racing Legends: new series
I don't intend to rock the boat....but would you really hold the same opinion had it been your kid on board and you didn't give permission for him to fly? A rhetorical question I'm sure.David wrote: But that's what made him successful and I think no less of him because of it
Anyway, I know this topic wasn't raised to discuss this so we all agree he was an incredible competitor.
