I have been offered a 12 month extended warranty (including roadside assistance) and a free geo. Do you guys think I should take this as compensation or should I demand, for example, a free service too?
Mate, you're in the driving seat here (excuse the pun) - I'd push them and get a free service. Double check who the free geo is with, they might not know what they're doing!
Get some free tat too, cuddly toy, Lotus keyring (they'll need shot of that if they're not selling cars there anymore

The first thing I'd ask for is that all your problems are sorted and you should be given a courtesy car too. Dunno anything about the extended warranty so I can't comment. Geo is only about £100.

As long as they get the fixes right, that does seem like decent compensation. Can't help on the cash value of the warranty, but it's encouraging if it's from Lotus (and will be of worth). Of course, if you can get a free service as part of the package of fixes, then do so!
The real issue is the lack of customer care with Glasgow (in your case) and what they intend to put in place to deal with that. Some real comments from the management about their complaints procedures and addressing it's failures would be a good start...

I'd assumed Dezzy was going to Edin to get this sorted out. If so, it'll be CLCM - if not, then I'd agree with Greg - find out who and if they know the Elise at all!

Cheers for the advice guys. I think I'll push for next year's service being free too.
The free geo is through Edinburgh MMC and John there told me it would be CLCM.

Dezzy, Sounds like a fair offer of compensation. (Based on them sorting everything else out) I would check the warranty is a kosha one and not just a "goodwill" warranty.
I wouldnt want to go into the issues I had with my S2 that soured my ownership and resulted in me vowing to never buy Lotus again, but my complaints were with Town and County Aberdeen who then lost the dealership, probably down to piss poor service, and nobody else will take it on. Which is a shame in itself.
I got a free watch from T&C (Whoopeee) after they had my car in the garage about 10 times, and drove it into a service ramp ripping the bottom of the front clam off. (Makes your issues seem minor tbh) I can send you privately my "problems" if you wish.
It might make you feel better

Didn't manage to get anything else from them, but I'm happy with the extended warranty and free geo. I've confirmed it is most definitely an official Lotus warranty and I'll be reading the paperwork thoroughly when I receive it. It also includes AA roadside assistance for that 12 month period.
Sounds like you had a worse experience than me Dave. Feel free to PM me the details. PM me your email address and I'll send you the document I've created with a list of my problems if you're interested in some bedtime reading.
Everything is almost sorted now. Just the leak to be fixed (and the free geo) this Friday and that should (fingers crossed!) be the end of it.
Thanks for all your help guys and for listening to all my moans over the past few weeks. It almost put me off Lotus ownership completely, but the support and assistance from you guys has been really encouraging.
The smile the car puts on my face is what has got me through this. I love the damn thing! Looking forward to my pax laps on Sunday and getting the car on track myself at some point!
Cheers,
D

Dezzy,
You've just summed up why bad dealer experience get's my hackles up. You're obviously a good guy who enjoys his car but you were nearly going to sell up because of shameful treatment from the dealer.
The minute Lotus wises up to the harm that bad dealers can do, I'm sure that alarm bells will start ringing in Hethel....

Chin up mate, you'll forget all about it when you're blasting along a B-road, or caning it round KH
One of the best things about Lotus ownership I've found in my 12 months (eek!) has been meeting this lot.. truly a great bunch

Definitely. Although I've not told MMC this, I think I'll still forward Lotus an account of what's happened, just so they are aware of it. Or would I be best to leave this until we've collated the complaints threads?
