Was just thinking about this! planning a night away with a friend on Friday (possibly islay) with an overnight stay, Idea is to take the evora but quite fancy taking two cars so we can both enjoy the drive.

First call was to open road hire about there caterhams but as they are based in Elgin it is not going to be viable, next call was to Russell Peterson at RPM about Morgan hire but they just sold there Morgan hire car and there new one is not due to arrive till Thursday which will be cutting it fine for them to prep and register. Might still be possible

Any other thoughts?

I was googling Guy Salmon for you, and this is what it now redirects to.

Dont see any hire specialist wanting you putting 800 miles on more specialist machinery if you know what I mean, so best to get something with no limit.

Boxster for a couple of days was £376 inc vat pick-up from Edinburgh, but they have other locations. Are other options also but that seemed the best car vs ££.
Just looked at this certainly good value for money, would need to check that they could guarantee it was a boxster and I didn't end up with a TT or worse an SLK.

Early S2000's would look a good bet but guessing insurance would be stoating.

I'm still trying to figure out something interesting to do with a pension I can't touch for anouther 30 years
I'll have one (an early S2000) going cheap cheap very soon... :thumbsup

Has anyone ever tried www.fantasygarage.co.uk? They are Edinburgh based and have a couple of convertibles.

Number of years ago we hired a car through Avis Prestige when we were having a holiday in Italy. The literature said that they had an Mazda MX-5 but that the actual vehicle could not be guaranteed, we got given a Peugot 206-CC

Avis Prestige at Frankfurt airport used to have some nice cars (996's / Boxsters etc) - Nice and handy for the 'ring, before the rental companies got wise and took steps to stop people using them there.

(I remember someone hiring an SL500 many moons ago, when they first launched in 2002 - He hit the bumpstops trying to go flat through the Fuchsröhre, and ripped out the rear wheel arch liners, which had come loose... )
