Worked first time for me at 6.30pm yesterday but a friend at work also experienced issues.

I'm the other sort of apple user.

The type that buys apple kit and keeps it until it is dead.

Won't be buying a new iPhone until the one i have is dead
Landrover 90 = Muddy shed spec
Fiat panda = Couldn't care less spec
Landrover ?? = Muddy shrek spec
Unimog 404S = Very slow silly offroader spec
Kubota F1900 = Snowplough spec

Yes, it pays not to be a sad early adopter! Tried again this morning at 8am and it was the usual pleasant apple experience !

MY, admittedly aincent, PC has decide my iPad is a digital stills camera after updating iTunes last night. No ios5 for me yet then.

I'd suspect so Ross, as you won't have iOS5 on your 4th gen touch, even if the hardware is the latest.

As always, plug it into your 'puter and iTunes will do the rest for you! i.e. tell you if the software needs updated! Just doing the wife's iPhone just now...

Worked perfectly first time for me.

I have had a few issues with third party software. First one way for a wireless printer, no resolution after 9 months... new printer bought. Second was for a Netgear wireless network drive, not supported on Lion... will be buying a case and connecting via usb.. Apple stuff works with apple stuff... should have bought a wireless time machine thingy...

That is all...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
