For those who have not seen it. Good interview. In my opinion entirely Massa's fault. For a track where you can rarely get the opportunity to pass he had a chance and went for it. Massa turned into him. Watch it and how early he turns in. No accident.

I am genuinely not sure if Massa could have seen him given the restricted view out of a lid and into the "wing" mirrors on an F1 car? Haven't got the energy to compute the field of vision nonsense mind you...S111Y TT wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qx3a1IgwDKk

Also, can you be accused of "turning in" on someone when they are barely overlapping you at all, even by up to half a car length? I thought you had to have your nose ahead at the apex to "have the corner".

Re: Eez it because I is Black? (Monaco GP content)
I wouldn't be too hard on him, he is a racing driver at the end of the day, and in addition to that he clearly has access to the racing driver list of excuses
The Ali G comment I thought was very tongue in cheek, and I suspect some parts of the world would just have been laughed off for what it was.
Yet again it appears that an unfortunately judged comment has been lept upon by the media. I think his body language and facial expression clearly showed he was joking.
Still, whether you like it or not, incidents like this do get everyone talking and in the world of F1 with the sponsorship monies that are being spent, the cynical side of me wonders if things like this are not all part of the plan.
When making a pass like that, as he tried on Massa, there is always a chance of collision and that is simply part of the sport, or as it is called more frequently "a racing incident". Quite often when this happens to you, the emotions and adrenaline stop you seeing it as objectively as you might otherwise do. However, there is no doubt in my mind that the sport without this sort of risky/ambitious manoeuvres would be far less entertaining.
It is a lot harder for these guys as they also have multiple camera angles so people can analyse what happened. In cars of this extreme performance the margin for error is always going to be small. Hamilton has been such good value to watch from me because quite often he has the ability to find an overtaking spot that others would not think of, but clearly this is inherently risky as drivers are less likely to be checking their mirrors.
Should he accept some of the blame? I suspect once he has calmed down and watched it again he will, but don't expect these guys after two hours in the car, on what is a notoriously hard circuit to pass on, to be the most objective people in the world when they are interviewed with the adrenalin still flowing. It simply won't happen.

I laughed at the comment, I took it as a joke, as I think that is how it was intended.
As others have said, the media have blown it up.
I like Lewis, I think he has a real passion for the sport that bubbles over. I like that in comparison to the other sterile drivers.
As I saw it he tried to overtake on a circuit that is famed for it's lack of overtaking places.
Lewis yielded to schummy and expected the same from drivers he was trying to pass. It was still optimistic though.

Farce. Every contact that previously would have been a 'racing incident' now has to be an 'avoidable collision' with blame apportioned.
Frustrating weekend for Hamilton, had they not made a bollocks of qualifying I think he would have won the race easily.

More so for his team mate who had a win taken from him by his teammate driving his car like it was a dodgem

The team lost Button the lead with their poor strategy. Nothing to do with what Hamilton was doing.
Re: Eez it because I is Black? (Monaco GP content)
In this totally PC world where anyone is totally scared to say anything like that - HE shouldn't have said that and should have known a lot better. Intended joke or not - I think not or 50% at best.
If anyone else had said that or anything about Lewis being Black there would be hell to pay.
His whole attitude was shocking in that interview as was his driving yesterday. Seriously down in my estimations.

I think you are wrong. a racing driver should expect that and I feel Massa was as much to blame as Lewis. massa wasn't looking, he should have been as its just about the only place you can pass (or in the tunnelcampbell wrote:I am genuinely not sure if Massa could have seen him given the restricted view out of a lid and into the "wing" mirrors on an F1 car? Thanks for the correction - I knew it wouldn't take long
Regardless of people lunching each other, I thoroughly enjoyed that race.

Massa turned in early to block him. Infact, he turned in sooo early he clicked the back of the red bull
Re: Eez it because I is Black? (Monaco GP content)
OK question to our racing driver faction.
You're Massa. Hammy's pulling his move at the Hotel Hairpin as per yesterday. What do you do? That question to Scotty, Andy and Neil please
And any others I've overlooked, sorry

Re: Eez it because I is Black? (Monaco GP content)
you have to give it up.
infact just pull into the pits and retire from the sport as you are sh*t.

Re: Eez it because I is Black? (Monaco GP content)
if he has an overlap (ANY overlap) then you need to give a car widths room. I'm not saying just give up, but by the time he is alongside, its too late to block. Its not stock car racing
