Yes and the manager wasn't even brave enough to come and tell us that..........send in a lackie ! Eventually kicked off a good hour and a bit late.

But it was a great documentary, similar feelings about 3D, it seemed to add more to the interviews than the on board footage which kinda defeated the point.

A good night out though :thumbsup

Well what did others think?

For me it was pretty excellent. If it had been a fictional story you'd find it hard to create a character like Guy, yes he's over the top and perhaps wearing at times but genuine, I think. A complete maverick.

Hollywood would have scripted a happy ending, the reality is so much more dramatic.

As to the 3D, I think I'm now more excited to see the HD version at home, I just don't need 3D, you lose so much clarity and gain visual effect which is somehow artificial. At times the 3D effect is warranted but I kinda hope it's another passing phase.

I don't think you need to be a biker to enjoy it, you need to like racing, the drama of the event and be open to the characters as you would be in any movie. If you can develop an affinity for the racers, a respect for the event and risks you will enjoy the build up to a dramatic final race.

If it's showing again near you, and you didn't go along, I'd give it a :thumbsup

If you didnt know otherwise it would be easy to think it was a mockumentary at times - so "interesting" were the characters - but i loved it.

Good old Fred, God rest his soul. I said exactly the same after watching the boat that Guy built which was nothing like Fred Dibnah quality unfortunately. :(

Nothing special - 2 blokes bringing a canal longboat back to rude health and going to 'places of interest' along the way.
They visited mills, weavers and potteries and the like to make stuff in the traditional way to put into the boat. :tired
Only redeemable feature being the banter between Guy Martin & Mave(?) - & that wore a bit thin after one episode.

Ok think I'll miss downloading it on iplayer and save 2 hours of my life.

I liked the movie, but it could have done with a bit more on board footage in 3D, conor's crash made me feel sick.

Whereas I thought it was really enjoyable. Think it's been a big enough success that they might do something else. It wasn't in-depth, but it was genuinely interesting and laugh out loud funny in some places.

Kinda depends if you have a love for the old industrial age stuff, which I do. Guy & Mave were certainly really engaging and enthusiastic and for a first show, came across well once you desensitised to the banter (which is supposedly totally genuine - he really does finish every other sentence with 'boss'). Wasn't perfect, but certainly about a million times better than almost anything else on at the minute.

I watched the boat that guy built with my 5 year old son and he really took to it. I used to watch Fred Dibnah with my dad and it might be one of the reasons I'm an engineer.....

I'd say it's worth a couple of hours of your life Scotty. :-)

As for the movie, I'll certainly get the bluray and watch it on my big screen but the 3D is no more than a gimmick.

I thought (TT3D) was superb. I don't race. I no longer ride bikes. I've never heard of Guy. I know very little about the TT.
But genuine drama throughout. And you'd have to be nuts to ride the TT, or any bike TBH (although the Shug's looked very cool going by me).
The 3D is a gimmick, added nothing to the footage of the racing beyond making some bits look a little artificial. (Is this because it was done in post production?). But I don't like 3d (ace on the iMax watching a documentary about the Hubble with Millie) but otherwise a waste of time.

After doing the TT (as a spectator) a couple of times I have total respect for these guys.

Once you have ridden the course, you realise how much skills and bravery these guys have. My favourite section on the TT is Quarry Bends and after viewing these guys go around it on various videos it make it looks like I am on a C90 Stepthrough round the corners.

Obviously the TT is not without its sad stories, witness too many close incidents over the times I went and many an excellent racer has lost their life on the course. However the challenge is part of the appeal.

In some way it probably is reminiscent of the Nurburgring when they used to race F1 there.

As I will be missing it in the cinemas, looks like I will have to wait for the BluRay release.

As far as i know that's it. The hubble doc and a few others are shot on the correct film and have a whole different impact/look to post production 3D "enhancements".

Went to see Tron Legacy at the iMAX and was cursing the 3D, would have been so much better without. Waited for a 2D showing but alas no.

Will definitely be going along to see this though, 3D or not.
