Flip, when I was out on the track with you the other day, I was talking about the very basic principles of track driving, i.e. keep everything as smooth as possible, the lines, etc.

When drifting a car like the Exige (which isn't the easiest to drift with no LSD and sticky tyres), you have to provoke it to lose its composure as you enter the corner. I do this by going into a corner too hot, turn, lift off (I know some people brake but I don't), anticipate and catch the slide at a desired angle (sometimes I over do this and pass the point of no return, i.e. too much angle  :damnfunny ), control the throttle and steering as required. The Exige will shout at you the amount of steering input required. You have to listen to it. Do not hold the steering wheel too tightly as you WILL spin.

Practise, practise :thumbsup

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Scottish Sporting Car Club website will have a list of dates and venues and sometimes run training events before timed tests, you can build the speed up from there.

In the Evo I tended to use the wet kerbs and brake hard whilst turning in sharply. The Evo was actually quite difficult to get out of shape and I wouldn't attempt it in the dry unless it was Charade. :thumbsup

Knochill hairpin quite far back.

Should've got the opposite lock off about here.

Didn't manage to carry it all the way round the bend like the pros can but I'm still learning.

Oh, and if there was the interest, I would be happy to run a training event at the start of the day.

Hey Dom,

what training could you organise and how would the day work, I would be really interested in tuition that was applicable.

I'm sure from the previous posts there might be a few people who would take up this offer.

My own thoughts are that if this was available it would be a good step to doing a walshy day, after a bit of chat with Neil it would appear the most rewarding way to do learn would poss be a tuition morning up here followed by a walshy day/bedford track day in a weekend jaunt combined with loads and loads of laughter, sorry, practice.

As above Im sure there would be loads of uptake on tuition if you could organise up here and I hope a few people interested in a road trip to walshy/bedford.

On a slightly less fun note I'd like to thank mass andyg and mckean for the dent my wallet is probably going to take in tyre bills. so much for saving for business expansion!

cheers

Ps forgot to mention, is it just me or does big d's photos above remind you of the top gear episode where clarksons chatting away and hammond goeas right across the back of the aerodrome in a massive slide with maases of smoke and noise. (think it might been the last 911 launch)

Dom was a British autotest champ a few years ago so he will be the man to teach you the car control in a controlled environment (large parking space with cones), albeit at slowish speed.

It is surprisingly good for drifting; with the added adrenalin rush of never quite knowing when the tyres will dig in, and tip you over  :damnfunny

Drive ornament! It has actually moved quite a lot recently; including going through a river and up and down some hills. :thumbsup ...still work in progress too though!
