Thing to look out for is paint bubbling, my old 111s had its front painted by MMC prior to me owning it couple of weeks later it started to get bubbling.

Think Uldis had some paint match issues

Uldis's was in at Perth I think when he had the pain match problems. The problems I had weren't to do with the paint, it was damage to the undertray.

I am afraid to say that Wallyford has managed to deliver some very poor performances over the 8 years that I've been listening. Even if they don't screw up every job, they screw up enough to make it a high probability that they will screw up yours.

I suspect the insurance companies will always cause this as I believe they now give fixed prices for jobs and the only incentive for the body shop is to do it quickly. Unfortunately to do an Elise (or any other GF bodywork) properly requires a period of drying out pre-painting that must be done indoors, and I don't know they have the space to do that properly.

The other problem is that paint matching is so hard, so they tend to want to "blow over" other panels to blend the paint; unfortunately they don't get paid to prepare those surfaces properly, so they don't.

Bottom line is to insist that they don't blow over the other panels before you start. Then when the paint doesn't match you'll need to get it done again and again until it does ...

So if you have the choice, I would always choose to send it somewhere that (a) specialises in GF repairs and painting and (b) gives a f*ck. E.g. Steve Walker's in Bathgate (though I *still* haven't taken my car to him, plenty of others have and have been pleased with the results).

Cheers,
Robin

I had the same thing happen to mine in 2004! Bloody deer jumped off a bank and straight into the front of my car!

No how gutted you must be!

I had mine at the JM group to get fixed and it ended up taking about a month :(

A month

Just spent the last half hour on hold to the insurers, waiting on the garage calling me back. Fingers crossed for repair in time for Mexitowers :?

Good news: Its going to a place that I had an extensive rebuild done before (years ago) after a twat had pulled out in front of me, they did an excellant job, car came back better than it was prior to crash.

Bad news: The took fecking ages. Well over a month.

Eas it a fibreglass car? Not casting any aspertions, but as Robin said, it's a bit of an art to repair fibleglass properly, that not every bodyshop is well versed in.

However, if they are known to you, then they are more likely to be straight with you, I suppose.

Good luck mate.

Nope, but there was some expensive cars sitting there when I was in so I am as confident going there as I would be anywhere else.

I have the option of going wherever I want but it would take longer, definately ruling out MT and I wouldnt get a courtesy car.

Dont have time for that if I want it back for Mexitowers, have reasonable confidence in the place that its going anyway.
