I am afraid to say that Wallyford has managed to deliver some very poor performances over the 8 years that I've been listening. Even if they don't screw up every job, they screw up enough to make it a high probability that they will screw up yours.
I suspect the insurance companies will always cause this as I believe they now give fixed prices for jobs and the only incentive for the body shop is to do it quickly. Unfortunately to do an Elise (or any other GF bodywork) properly requires a period of drying out pre-painting that must be done indoors, and I don't know they have the space to do that properly.
The other problem is that paint matching is so hard, so they tend to want to "blow over" other panels to blend the paint; unfortunately they don't get paid to prepare those surfaces properly, so they don't.
Bottom line is to insist that they don't blow over the other panels before you start. Then when the paint doesn't match you'll need to get it done again and again until it does ...
So if you have the choice, I would always choose to send it somewhere that (a) specialises in GF repairs and painting and (b) gives a f*ck. E.g. Steve Walker's in Bathgate (though I *still* haven't taken my car to him, plenty of others have and have been pleased with the results).
Cheers,
Robin

Eas it a fibreglass car? Not casting any aspertions, but as Robin said, it's a bit of an art to repair fibleglass properly, that not every bodyshop is well versed in.kenny wrote:Good news: Its going to a place that I had an extensive rebuild done before (years ago) after a twat had pulled out in front of me, they did an excellant job, car came back better than it was prior to crash.
Bad news: The took fecking ages. Well over a month.
However, if they are known to you, then they are more likely to be straight with you, I suppose.
Good luck mate.
