I have a Scott Ransom 10 and bought with the same do it all idea . Its 30.8 lbs and to be honest is too heavy for Cross country and after a short period the weight really does sap your energy and you end up lagging behind . I will have a better comparison when I go out with my mate for the annual Christmas hangover ride . Its great at Glentress and will go much faster then I can ride it down hill .

I still would like a xc hardtail to complement it and may get one if funds allow . Will see the deals in January are like . ( Even though I promised not to buy now pay later )

Some bargains out there if you shop around, was just looking at the shocking 2009 prices and came across £2k off a bike as its a 2008 and small . Sometimes it pays to be a short arse . Will post a link when its in my grubby hands , could be too good to be true.

I ride a Commencal supernormal deluxe, 10.8kg fully built. F32's, X9 gear and Formula Oro brakes. Can handle anything that I throw at it.

You obv have taste.
I got myself an 08 Supernormal deluxe for under £800 and although I dont throw much at it :) its very light and everything on it seems durable and high quality, especially the formula oro brakes. Very impressed. And its flippin light. Just had to change the razorblade saddle for something a little less compromised.

A handy review site http://www.mtbr.com/cat/bikes/xc-hardta ... 27crx.aspx

You cam get the 2007 model Giant XTC for £550 http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/products.p ... 1b4s2p1264 not sure of shipping and biggest size is a medium .

Worth shopping about . The bike I got the end of last year is a Scott scale ltd 2008 for £2300 . The 2009 in Dales is £5999 , completely insane .

Ta, medium = 17.5" which would be fine.

A Giant 2008 XTC on Ebay item number 140295782125. Could be worth an offensive offer if you fancy a drive to Preston.

Not overly fussed with dealing with ebay scammers, would rather pay another £50 and get from somewhere less likely to rip me off.

I would be tempted with the above, all depends on what your budget is and what you are going to use it for.

Budget was originally £500 but may go higher. Mainly for use joining the other SE MTB'ers (weegie faction) on trips to Carron Valley, Glentress or just local bike routes etc.

Will be more than enough for that malarky.

I might pop along to the next one, just finished rebuilding my bike.

Is there any great difference between Specialized Rockhopper 2008 & 2009 models?
