I had a similar problem last year. It turned out to be the fuse that Ed is talking about. It had got a bit coroded. In my S1 it was located towards the back passenger side of the engine bay, fairly high up.

Was that quote of £275 fitted? It seems crazy-expensive for the part only, but quite cheap for it fitted at dealer rates (as IIRC it's a pig of a job).

Anyway, hope it's the fuse.

I am very embarrased to say that i cant find the fuel pump fuse

i have looked in the engine bay around the back on the passenger side and I cant see anything that looks like a fuse or a fuse carrier. I even went into the boot and rummaged about.

Ive searched the pdf files that were sent kindly when i got the car but i cant find anything there using search function or reading them.

I know im missing something obvious but i really dont know what Im looking for. i found the inertia switch and that hasnt changed anything. still no fuel moving and no sound of the pump running up on turning key. All electrics ok.

anyone have a picture or could drive past lanarkshire and point it out saying "there it is you daft *******"?

Can anyone please put me out of my stupidity?

the car needs an MOT and tax this month so its getting bit urgent , i cant get to it until the weekends cause of work and its location.

sorry and thanks again

On my '97 its in the boot, I pull out the boot bag and its on the RHS.

Find the ECU.
Find the black plastic lumps near to it.
One is the Multi Function Relay Unit, one is a cover for the fuse.

thanks

Ive had a look on the net and ive found a diagram. Just like you say.

Its pure stupidity to think it would be obvious and its a lesson on "why i shouldnt have got rid of the net in the house".

I am very grateful - again

mein papa had a look as I remain marooned at work.

found the fuse and stated that "its in pieces" :? states that it looks "melted"

also the fact it was a 20 worries me slightly. couldnt start it as the battery is croaked so going to try this afternoon.

cheers to everyone who has contributed.

On replacing fuse and charge onto battery, started on half a turn and idling happily.

Going to have a little look in there myself this weekend.

A huge thanks to everyone and the offers of fuel pumps etc, I am very grateful.

cheers guys
