Och,
Went Mtb with the guys from my work.
The hill up was enough for me.
Great fun on the way down as long as you stay on the bike.
Hope you feel better soon mate.
PS Is that up the Carron Valley?

Used to go to Glentress quite often. Had done the black/red around 6 times until I saw it in the daylight
Sprung 3 ribs there once.
My GP broke his neck. The only reason he servived was his wife (a nurse) was there taking photo's. She had to do a jaw lift to get an airway. He's walking again now (with a stick), but it has taken 2 years.
Of the firm believer that MTB is not dangerous, unless you combine it with a camera of course

No, No! not Bloke. It's pronounced Black, as in Plaque

Armour?!?.. John's safety gear: Trainers, shorts & tee shirt!GregR wrote:can't see it on work pc - was it an injury from a fall then landing putting the forces through the shoulder? if so, body armour would've done jack.
Otherwise, I never go serious riding without my armour... although I did the red runs at Glentress in just my kneepads....
How are you doing John? When are you back at the hosp?
from personal, painful experience, that's just plain stupid
Even if you don't come off the bike, and you're loading the pedals on an uphill stretch and the chain slips, you can do some serious damage to your kneecap with some stem contact.
For the sake of a few hundred quid, if you're doing any serious downhill (as opposed to XC only flounce-work) you should invest in at least a set of knee-shin pads and some upper body armour
