Depends what you are after.

They are not big inside (probably about the same as a 307 setate).... & when the wee one gets a bit bigger you'll be twatting it's heid off the door frame as you take it in and out of the back seat. (not on purpose).

We're currently changing our 5 series touring out for a VW touran.

Our 5 series is an awesome tool for transprting mucho sh*t at pace for 600 miles but 99% of our driving is short journeys.

Touran/Mazda 5/zafira/corolla verso are unfortunately & I hate to say it the answer. They are fecking huge inside compared to our 5 series (not so much the toyota), are smaller externally & they drive ok..... ish (but that's what you've got the S2 for...)
I'm just looking at it as a comfy van.

I think the sporty estates are on their way out. They're alright if you only want to run one car but if you need two anyway get one practical one & keep the plastic roller skate (wifes description of the elise) for fun.

Poxhaul do a VXR 230+ bhp zafira now I think.. (wouldn't have one myself cos it looks a bit chavtastic but as you've bought one of the only model of elise that Lotus chavved up as standard, might be right up your street. :D )

You're right Paul.
400Nm is 295lb/t
I read once chipped (if I remember rightly) they go up to 390Nm/287lb/t

Baggy,
If looking to change it would have to cater for the mrs, dog and bambino (buggy etc). Needs to be mean looking and go like fook.

Somehow, I don't think I could drive a people carrier...

I think the 307 will do...may need a roof rack but will I...it's only for weekends!

Aye understood

I'm just saying that if you are changing out a 307 cos it's too wee, don't expect a lot more room in a bimmer estate.

Don't be such a wassock! You don't need 2 practical cars, the little fecker can only be in 1 at once... ;)

...unless it's twins and you're transporting them seperately...

Ali

Wassock.??????...... Oh the eighties, weren't they great, I also watched too much Grange Hill.

Not the word that first sprung into my mind but whatevever I'll go with it.

Gareth

No, no, no, no, no.......

I got my elise when the boy was 6 months old...... Exactly as Al says, only one practical car required.

Anyway baby seats fit no problem in the Elise for the odd occasion if you feel the need & although they're not a volvo, you could argue that neither is a 307.

I've only carried him about 5 or 6 times in the elise & if I were honest I would say 4 of those occasions were through choice.

If you feel that strongly about it, put your elise in the garage & buy our old 5 series off me for 2K & see how it goes. 8)

The touran is a great cross between an estate and a mpv.
My folks have loads of kids and its their only car!
You would regret getting rid of the elise, unless of course you bought an exige!!

330d is by far the best diesel I have ever driven, if i had not found the Audi at the knock down price i got it for then a 330d was on the cards!

Wicked engine, and solid as a rock, will be my next car if i am still battling with a DERV!

Dave

How about this then.....putting "needing space" to the side, my car is into to MMC to get things fixed next week. If it's not (rattles etc) I am thinking about jumping off the Lotus ship to something new.
