Not wanting to jump on the Rory-bashing bandwagon but his screaming whilst at the wheel is utter shiite.

I've never, when really concentrating at pushing on, screamed out loud, quite the opposite. Silence.

And Sabine is pure cringeworthy

Getting close to giving up on TG completely and I never thought I would say that .

Confess I'm in a similar place. All too shouty with what feels like little substance - and the producers appear to be dragging Chris's presentation style towards Rory's rather than the other way round. They need to find another experienced car journalist who can present with some gravitas/authority, soon.


Extra Gear - I watched it again (part scab-picking, part in hope - only highlight the 911 lap, of course) - Rory at the wheel of the Countach.... "listen to the noise this thing makes!", while at no point are we spared his wall-to-wall vacuous exclamations and rat-tat-tat intrusive backing music. The teeth-grinding frustration that we never actually properly heard it for ourselves!


I want TG to be good, but it's like F1 now. I turn it on in desperate hope...

I was never been a big Chris Harris fan but it's better viewing that most other Sunday night TV and we should celebrate that it's still there.

I enjoyed the Track-tor bit too but then I also liked last series when Joey did the machinery bits. Who doesn’t like diggers and loaders and tele handlers?!

Another decent episode of Top Gear with the added theme of "test them to destruction".

The alpine looks really good and love their "lotus" approach. However with the price point they are asking it looks like they will be a seldom spotted occurrence on the streets. Always hankered after an A610 of old as remember reading the Performance Car reviews when I was much younger.

Don't know whether the Top Gear "incident" will cause Alpine sales, has happened to Porsche before but they had the brand power to fall back on.

Anyone can suffer a fuel leak. Perhaps the nastiest of failures (maybe along side brakes!?) and in some ways quite brave of Alpine to allow the footage to stand. Plenty other manufacturers have their f*ckups in private.

I wish them well with it. I can't quite decide on the styling, but I love the "added lightness" ethic (obviously) and the powerplant seems good ... with scope for some extra boost for "S" models I'm sure

I know somebody who has ordered one, not a million miles from here...

All in all I enjoyed the show (and the whole series) and I'll look forward to them returning later this year. Meantime, how the hell to fill a Sunday evening? Oh there's F1 now. Ah, well, hmmmm, perhaps not

I enjoyed last nights episode too - probably the best of the series (despite EJs appearance). Love the Alpine , but not at that price - and I can’t help but feel that it will be remembered for being burnt out on TG whenever people spot them on the road.

I’m definitely getting old- was on the net halfway through the program checking the price of XC60s.

I also have the horn for V90 estates (and I’m not even 40 yet)

Sad to say that after an optimistic start it’s went downhill in my eyes, Harris who was the star of the show in my opinion has been diluted down to the point that his passionate and excitable nature has been lost and replaced by a clownish child. The serious aspect of his journalism has been lost. Matt has improved a lot but I still think he’s just an actor in the wrong job just doesn’t feel right. Can’t really comment on Rory as I generally fast forward his parts. Bring back Chris Harris on cars! Sadly top gear has cost us one of the best series of videos about cars there was.

I just really enjoyed Chris Harris on cars and that part has / is being lost. Its difficult for them tho as they need to appeal to more than just die hard petrol heads so its always going to be a compromise. In the mean time Im enjoying the John Cadogan videos from autoexpert, and Project Binky was brilliant, just waiting for the next episode.

There are still ‘Chris Harris Drives’ videos being released and they are done in the same style as his old stuff, albeit less frequent.
