This is surely a sign of just how hard it is for Lotus dealers to shift cars. A delivery mileage Evora S built in 2011 going for 45k  . A great value buy or a just a route to massive residual pain?

There are plenty of other manufactures cars that depreciate equally or more so in the first few years. There are plenty of peeps buying those cars.

I consider myself a Lotus fan, and love what they stand for. I have to say, I'm getting a bit tired of peeps getting stuck into the company,.. especially peeps who apparently consider themselves fans of the brand too. Reputation can count for a lot, and I'm sure if we are all sufficiently negative and tried hard enough we could put buyers off any brand. Is this what we really want to do to Lotus?

Just my 2p.

I dont think the colour of that one does it any favours. If that was black with black leather it'd have sold several times over by now.

If you are spending large amounts of money on a car it has to look right - that just doesn't (IMHO)

If you think that's a lot just check out the Jaguar XKR-S, a car at nearly £100k, MY12 selling for £65K now. Just a few weeks ago there were 2 for sale in the low 60s.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

BMW very similar, 6 Series (640D MSport) MY12 plates selling in the low 40s for a car costing £67K new.

I actually expect the Exige will be one car that will not drop in value like the two above, not that I care really as I'm buying it to keep it for at least 5+ years unless circumstances force me otherwise, even then I think it will still be worth 50% of it's original value in the typical Lotus residual sense.

Few folk at my work have new M3s on lease. I can't remember the numbers now but thy are very cheap enough for you to expect there to be a lot of cheap M3s around in a couple of years.

How much do you think you lose on a new Focus/Mondeo? Megabucks compared to what you lose on a Lotus.
'99 - '03 Titanium S1 111S.
'03 - '10 Starlight Black S2 111S
'11 - '17 S2 135R
'17 - '19 S2 Exige S+
'23 - ?? Evora

Well in regards to Focus....I bought a new RS in 2010 for £28k. 2 years later traded it at £20k.
So an £8k loss in two years is impressive. Now go find me a low mileaged Focus RS with leather and Lux 2 pack under £20k....

I sensed this opinion when you last had a go at me for being on the verge of negative.
Having owned 8 Lotus's I would say I'm a fan but Lotus aint doing a lot to help themselves.
I don't think a few fanboys on SELOC/PH and good ole SE giving Lotus a hard time is going to put off any potential buyer.
Any buyer doesn't give a fcuk about Lotus....if there's money to be made then a deal will be done.

Anyway, as a Rangers supporter I'm tired of supporting a sinking ship... :D

SAJ,
Patience of a saint. I hope Lotus pull through as the yellow looks great.

I'm confident they will pull through, just a bit of patience required on my side. You know how the saying goes, "Good things come to those who wait" :thumbsup

I actually really like silver with a red leather interior - my Exige was in that combination. I love Lotus cars and definitely plan to own another one at some stage, but what saddens me is the complete incompetence of successive management teams running the company. The last thing I want is for them to fail, but jeez, they really do make it hard to believe that won't happen. Bad enough that Bahar's dream cars were all canned, then they have a great car in the V6 with plenty of orders and they can't get production going. I don't think it would put me off buying an Exige V6 though. Awesome car and one to keep, regardless of whether the company survives.

I too am a fan of silver with red leather but it doesn't look right on that car - especially with the stripes. In fact I havent seen an Evora with the 'Elise/Exige' twin stripes that looks right. good on the smaller cars but doesnt help the Evora one bit.
I think Bahars dream was the most upbeat time there has ever been for Lotus everythig was hyped up, money no object, big plans - and the only new saleable output of the whole saga was overpriced jackets and leather goods :? ( and I suppose quality control was stepped up ) - would it ever have worked, I guess we will never know.
In hindsight if it had never happened Lotus would probably have had the V6 out 2 years ago and not had the supplier problems through lack of cashflow. Current management has there work cut out but they appear to be moving in the right direction.

Those pics have really made me want to do a factory tour (don't want to say, before it is too late!) but do we fancy a tour if I speak to Graeme to see what he can do for a March tour perhaps?

Really fancy doing a tour of the factory to although it would depend on the date as committed elsewhere at start and end of the month.

Cheers
