Don't start the car with it in gear...

Post by alicrozier » Mon Feb 06, 2006 12:20 am

Quick reminder to not start your car when it's in gear.

My boss just phoned me to tell me he did this at the weekend. He was using a ciggie lighter powered compressor to put air in the tyres and decided to start the engine not realising it was in gear. Car ran forward up his drive trapping him as the door hit the fence and dragged him up the drive until it hit the garage door. Taken to A&E but he is OK, just bruised ribs, elbow and badly scraped knees. Faintly laughable in retrospect but I'm sure it was pretty scary.

He'll be off work for a while and we have a vital customer review tomorrow and Tuesday...guess I'll be pretty busy.

Never mind, it's only an order for 37 subsea trees...

Won't do it again though....
