The car has a blink, pre-link up honda conversion and had the bodywork/paint done by Sinclairs. Check out the photos in the link:
http://www.picjar.com/pub/sicob/
It belongs to Sicob from SELOC. He's looking for offers 'around' 20k in a not really wanting to sell but testing the water sort of way. I wouldn't want to spend 20k on it but a catD classification on an S1 can occur from bodywork only damage and I think that on this car it's not as much of an issue as it's virtually rebuilt. The spec is amazing and I priced up what it would cost to do this to my previous catD S1 and it came to way more than 20k - not saying it's worth that 2nd hand but if you were planning on converting to this spec from scratch then it looks a bit more desirable. Then again, look at what Tut got for less than 10k!
Unfortunately, and unsurprisingly with my luck, the person that expressed an interest in my Exige and was supposed to buy it last weekend has suddenly changed his mind - typical! I would have definitely been interested in this if the Exige had sold, especially with Tuts recent s/c offer.

As you say bodywork only damage can class a car as Cat D but it could also have been rolled into a field and classed as CatD - bottom line is its going to put people off. Especially when a converted car is a niche with in a niche - elises are specialist car and a Honda converted one in those colours is going to appeal to an even smaller number of folk.
Thats a bummer about your buyer though. Get a deposit?

Please stop posting links to cheap S1s. That money is ringfenced for the house, and is not for me to start spending on cars.
Your co-operation is appreciated in this matter.

If someone lightly scrapes down the whole side of my car it is instantly a CatD. No one's paying that kinda money to upgrade a car that rolled in a field.
With respect, I think Gulf colours painted by Sinclairs bring with it some serious extra interest - F1 history, nostalgia. Its gorgeousness probably the part of the reason Phil started this thread!
