Land Yachting

Anybody tried it?

A couple of young guys I know are setting up to do this with 1/2 a dozen (that's 6 Robin

) land yachts and I think we can get a special trial deal if enough of us turn up. Multiples of 6 I guess

No dates confirmed yet but we'll need a photographer for the day

Lad I work with does it - he's based in swindon though and does the skate/snowboard style version.

I'd be up for a go though.

I've done it. great fun. you need a bloody big space to do it properly though.

Slightly off-topic, but I'm going kite surfing, which looks grand fun.

As I'm built like the gable end of a pound note I'm assuming I may never be seen again....

They mentioned kite yachts too but say that needs a much higher skill level, but Kite Surfing is that standing up then? and is it on the water?

kite surfing is on water and is reasonably easy to learn, but not in a day i wouldnt have though.

you can do land yachting, kite yachting, and windboarding. You can master all them in an hour. There all basically the same, fly across the land at great speed (if its windy), just remember, it hurts when you come off at 40mph on concrete.

My pal used to do kite buggying ,I also made him a few buggies a while ago(still have some parts lying about).

Never got a shot though

its good fun and really easy to learn (i'm not saying that from a world champion level windsurfer either) as my dad tried it too.

Just wrap up well and try to do it on softish ground.

I would say yes.. without hesitation

Always fancied a go at that. Would need to be a big sail to get me moving! I think I know who you're talking about too.

An acquaintance of mine (can't really call him more than that) has promised to teach me some kite buggying (there's room on a few beaches around here... but not as much room as St Andrews probably has!). I have a traction kite, but still just using my feet for 'transport'

Quite fancy Land Yachting have done a lot of proper big yacht sailing but guess that will not help at all
