Original Top Gear S1 & 340r review on Google Video

Post by Sanjøy » Wed Mar 07, 2007 4:46 pm

After watching it with TED (Tom & Ed) I thought I would upload it.

I chucked a few more Lotus on TV things on there, 340R & natural gas powered S1.

Aye, and that was after a 125 mile thrash to Glencoe for our last long weekend before Miss E arrived, IIRC!!!

Hopefully I can get it that clean again for Donnie, if me and the FBF get the headworx wrapped up tomorrow night OK. She's in a sorry state just now, I can tell you. Even EGOR is cleaner. But then I have had EGOR on loan for a week right enough, and no car stands in my driveway in dirty state for long

You might find if your yellae banana were to be abandoned here by mistake, it too would be unrecognisable when you finally remembered where you left it ;-)

PS - were you parked in that picture of you then 8)

They are both almost original...............

Just need the five spoke wheels.

ps Just remembered that Campbell's is a '99, always think of it as earlier, so those probably are the originals.

Not sure about Neil's.

Neil's should be on 5-spokes, but those are his other rims.

Campbell - the next couple of pictures show the car spinning IIRC :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Yep, those actually really are the originals. Lotus changed them not long before I got my car. Harder to clean but I kinda like 'em. I also have a 2nd identical set, except re-finished by Coatech in pimp "Shimmer" effect which I keep my summer/track tyres on :-)

Rock hard.

Well damped.

Very pointy.

Creamy engine upgrade from Sabre Heads, power builds smoothly from 2-3k rpm, have to back off at 6k of course due to running a bit lean but the Technical Dept is working on that already ;-)

Robin has done a great job in developing the car in a tasteful way which doesn't affect the originality of the limited edition.

I nearly bought a 135R when they first came out. I now know that if I had, I wouldn't have been disappointed (I know his has more power now, but the whole package is great). Only 2 downsides. Pimp interior, and suspension is too hard for general use eg with sensitive pax aboard.

But I think it deserves a place as one of the best Lotuses ever.
