If PTP used emerald then that may sort it :)

Why don't we try a K3 modded one on Ross's car?
They are now supplying a map for emeralds at some extra cost if you want - i.e. 1,600 (inc VAT) for a new vulcan head with the cams, etc., plus some more if you want an ECU or a program for an ECU.

I am sure it can be made to work without going to all that hassle if you happened to have a spare wideband lambda kit, some time and a spare ECU - oh, we have at least 2 out of 3 of those :-)

Cheers,
Robin

As mentioned, there's a PTP 165 kit fitted to my S1 - Seems to shift quite well (was able to keep up with S1/S2 Exiges in Malcolm's hands at Oulton, despite being fitted with non-'R' rated Neova tyres... )

...Low speed stuff is pretty dire though...Lumpy on tickover, and needs a bootfull of revs / clutch slip to pull away smoothly...Not ideal for stop / start driving in town, but you do adapt...

Happy to play guinea pig...The shed is currently residing in its winter rest home, but is fully tax'd / MOT'd / trickled charged and ready to roll... :D

(Also need to get the Nitrons off and sent down to Guy for a service, as an adjuster has seized... :( )

Cheers,

Ross.

My last conversation with the lad Simon from PTP (before he moved on) was about fitting the verniers to the 165/170. He said that he would love to have supplied them as part of the kit but doubted how many folk would have been able to set the up correctly.

It's No.1 item on the wish list for Mandy's car at present.

I think the free thinkers comment is that unlike other lotus BBS we tend to make up our own minds on what we want rather than be railroaded by one or two vocal folk.

I would hope to be neither too vocal or rail-roading. I should maybe stay out of these discussion in future, although as I'm sure you are aware I have no commersial interests in this.

As I said, I was merely expressing my opinion. All the PTP kits I have driven were lacking in the mid-range and horrible to drive in the lower part of the rev range/light throttle openings. All in my humble opinion.

Dan,

That comment wasn't aimed at yourself. You've only offered advice and your own opinion on topics and long may it continue.

I don't want to name names but I'm sure those who read Sel*c and the LotusBBS can think of a few forceful personallities - most of whom have an vested interest in other options and have what looks like a blind following.

eg

"That's crap"
"Have you driven one?"
"No - but (insert name) says it's crap so it must be"

That's the kind of folk I was talking about.

Cheers
