More like 'where to stand at a rally if you are a complete muppet'!
It always astounds me the stupid places people stand at rallies
This is what gets spectators injured, and occassionally killed. Which then gets the sport a whole load of bad press.
Rant over.

I have never been to a rally, but assumed that the marshals actually marshalled, ie kept the spectators as safe as could be expected in addition to their other duties.
I take it from this clip that this is not the case

Rally stages are miles long, they can't marshal every corner. Have a look at videos of different rallies around the world and you'll see spectators standing on corners in some of them. And when I say on corners, I mean where the car will be going not at the side!

Having marshalled at rallies, I can tell you, it is not easy to control large crowds, over larges areas, with very few marshals. You can only try your best, and warn people. Once you have warned folk, it is up to them to move.
