More nanny knows best bollocks from our glorious leaders

And how many of those accidents were due to idiots driving into the back of a tractor?

How many of those accidents were due to someone crossing the dual carriageway without looking

And how many were purely due to excessive speed?

All that will happen is that accidents will keep happening and the speed limits will be continuely dropped.

Utter fcuk

I stick to 75 anyway, have to with my record, so they can do what they fcuking well like.

The more money they spend on the main roads the less they have to throw away on the back roads. Also if it puts those lazy twats of Scam Drivers out of work who sit on their fat overpaid asses all day, that is another bonus.

I doubt if they have considered it, but you are an idiot if you get caught by average speed cameras or Gatsos as they are plainly in sight, unlike Vans which will be bringing in a considerable amount of income. This will now stop.

I drive to Glasgow 3/4 times a month, I thought the 22 mile stretch of average speed camera between Perth and Stirling was bad enough, now we get another 50 odd miles! Stuck behind the dumplings who go 60 'just in case'.

In rush hour it may help with flow (probably not), but off peak times it'll be a huge hindrance.

I'd take public transport if it didn't cost an absolute fortune, does anyone who makes these decisions actually know what they're doing!

Well we could get in-insured drivers off the road

It would be a start

I have to agree. The section from Perth to Stirling is absolutely awful with people sitting really close or passing at 1mph difference of breaking hard at each AVERAGE camera.

FFS. I will be leaving earlier for KH - to drive the Glenshee road.

Given the minister in charge recently admitted "he didn't really know too much about transport", you can make up your own mind..

They are retards

The A9 had huge problems with folk doing suicidal overtakes past HGVs doing 40mph

Quite sensibly they increased the speed limit to HGVs to 50mph

While at the same time introducing the average cameras

Accidents dropped which of course is nothing todo with the speed limit change and everything todo with the average cameras.

No surprise that these are going in. GATSOs getting hard to maintain I think.

I have found the A9 to be better than I expected since its AvCams went in.

Dial in 70 on the Cruise and take it easy. Enjoy the scenery etc.

The stretch between Dunblane and Perth is an absolute joke. Vehicles are getting "bunched up" together and in really bad weather it can get quite dangerous with the spray from the long line of bunched traffic. Also, as mentioned above, have come across many muppets who break suddenly when they see the Camera even though they are only doing 65 or 70. Nearly spill my fluking coffee all over my lap when they do that the little feckers. It's a complete nonsense on that stretch.

I can totally understand it on the A9 North of Perth to Dunblane and Pitlochry etc as that road used to be mental with japanese car kamikaze drivers pulling out all over the place from side roads and for over taking when a line of lorries heading straight for them on the single lane stretches.

Just another instance of politicians not really having a clue.

Do we not get a say in this?

There numerous public consultations over the building of the AWPR, but no-one is asked about this.

The only people who will be pleased are those who sat at 50-60mph on the road all the time anyway, as they will no longer be passed by "nutters" doing 70-75mph. Now they will righteously sit in the outside lane at an indicated 63mph (same as somone on the inside lane) for miles on end and never let anyone pass.

Road Safety - I've always thought the best idea would be to actually teach people how to drive, not just teach them to pass a test, which is all they do these days.

No one seems interested in actually becoming a better driver. Car control is an alien concept to most. To 90% of road users it is just a means of getting from point A to point B, there is no enjoyment in it.
Face it we are in a minority, regulated by the majority. These cameras were inevitable as they can bandy about stats that prove they work and safety is sacrosanct, you can not argue against it else you will be branded unsafe and therefore a risk taker. It's a mirror of what has happened in industry and in this case probably lobbied for by the insurance industry to drive down the cost of claims. Not these specific cameras but all in general.
