Latest sky offer
Re: Latest sky offer
Reminds me of my mate who was one of the first Sky HD customers about 10 years ago - there was only 6 HD channels when it launched......
think I'll hold off for a bit

Re: Latest sky offer
For what it's worth I've been holding off getting Sky Q, but i now have it and it's working really well for us. There were bugs in it before but both the install process (40 mins for me), the product and the trouble shooting have all improved massively. It's not worth my while punting a product i don't believe in. SkyQ has some ultra broadcasts but it's still small scale right now.....think HD when it first launched. Lots of plans coming up.
As Tut says i have nothing to do with customer service, pricing, packaging or the overall company direction - i'm just trying to offer some good deals out to people and trying to help the company that pays my mortgage.
If you have issues with any part of Sky's products then the help pages and contact details are here

Scuffers - i've forwarded your ground breaking ideas on the CEO - i'm sure he'll be in touch
If anyone wants the deal then please PM me

some years ago, Sky's Marcomms director was one of my friends and former colleague, we both predicted the way the landscape was changing, and this ultimately was why they parted company with Sky (currently now works in the US).
And you don't have to take my word for it, Amazon/Netflix are really showing the way forward here, yes, they still have a way to go, but they are definitely heading the right way at speed, it's exactly the same as when Sky started and everybody called Murdock mad for pouring in millions year on year to get it running.
As with all tech, it's constantly moving forward, usually every so often, there's a big jump, ie. 4:3 to 16:9, Analogue to digital, DTS, HD, UHD, HDR, IPTV
what's changed these days is the speed of change, it took years for satellite to mature, but the rise of internet based services is massively faster, which when you consider satellites are a massive long term investment, it's not great news if you're business plan is committed to another X years of paying for them.
This is the same as what's happened in the telecoms sector, who uses a land-line for phone calls these days? Mobile is dominating the domestic market and SIP services the commercial.
My point here is that Sky Q is heading the right way, but it's pretty late to the market and behind the curve, to then be charging top money makes it hard.
It's a long time since I saw the (unedited) churn numbers for sky, but I bet they are not pretty.

Re: Latest sky offer
I joined Sky years ago via a Donkey Deal (that sounds wrong doesn't it...)
We looked at dropping it recently favouring internet services (likely a combo of NetFlix and Amazon, which we also have at the moment) and discovered that the cost of an internet only package with most suppliers is more than the cost of an internet + phone deal (for 12 months) and isn't that much lower than internet + phone + TV.
Ended up calling Sky cancellations and extending our contract with them for only £6 a month more than a Virgin Media half price for a year internet + phone deal.
I don't like the idea of lining Murdoch's pocket, but all the staff and customer services we've dealt with at Sky have been great, the TV picture quality is better than Virgin was by a long shot, and I've had no down time with internet in the past few years - can't really complain - and couldn't use these newfangled streaming services without them

Re: Latest sky offer
LazyDonkey - any idea as to when Sky will be getting the Sky Q app ready for Windows 10.
Just bought a HP Spectre X360 with the view that it was cheaper getting a 2 in 1 tablet instead of a laptop/new iPad, however I was surprised to hear that there was no Sky Q app available in Windows 10 (or certainly could not find it on the Sky web site).

There is not an App for Laptops yet George. Initially there was one for the iPad but do not know about Android Tablets.
iPhone App came out a few weeks ago, but there is not one for Mac Laptops yet and probably not Windows.
