Sorry to hear Iain. :(
All characters appearing in this post are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
Any references to laptimes, speed or driving on the public highway are purely for dramatic effect.

I do the same when passing through there as well. I still remember trying to get a signal on mmy mobile that day to find out where he had dissapeared to.

Iain

Very sorry to hear about your mishap but glad your okay and that pax sounds ok. That must have been an interesting experience for him. Hope your on the road again soon.

Thanks everyone.

Heard from the German lad that I was giving the lift to - he's fine. The cuts on his hand are healing.

I haven't given too much thought to what to do next car wise. I expect I'll be looking for another Elise - I just cannot imagine driving anything else frankly. At least with the onset of Winter around the corner I can take my time and find a nice example to re-invest in.

I will, of course, keep you all posted.

Regards,
Iain.
p.s. meant to say that whilst I was being checked over at Hospital after the accident Monica suggested to the doctor that this might be a good time for him to advise me to find some other car to drive. His response was that if it was him he'd immediately buy another since he couldn't believe that we'd come out of the accident having both only sustained small cuts. This did make me smile.

They are quite strong wee things really. It's good to watch the work they put into crash structures and strength etc in the "making of the Elise" video shown on Discovery a few years back. Think it might be available to buy from Lotus too? I got a version courtesy of our Simon Scuffham. Just re-watched it the other night, it's like Open University meets Formula 1...lots of bushy beards and high tech machinery!!!

Your avatar is quite ironic at the moment, as I read somewhere (possible elise book) that the liz has a stronger crash structure, & performs better in a crash than...

Just read your post Iain - shocked to hear about the accident but we are so glad you are in one piece. I got knocked off my bike last Friday and for a split second I thought I was a gonner... like yourself I've just got a couple of cuts and bruises to show for it. Makes you think right enough.

Take it easy - and pick a good'un when you return to an Elise.

All the Best,

Del rolled his when I was first taken out for a run to let me see what the cars could do. After seeing him roll several times in a field and then just walk out I felt a lot safer should I ever have the same fate.
Mind you, I'd rather not test it myself!
