Yeah, worked out ok. Some light rain here and there but good for Oct I thought! Path conditions good too. Prob didn't need my crud guards but sshhhh don't tell Woody and Smee that.
one bit of stray dog sh*t and you will wish you did!

Good effort, welcome to escapism at its best. Bike is a bike, if you are enjoying it then great! Planning any more, post them up here and see if you can get more support / drinking support etc! ps, what spares are you carrying? I generally carry:

tubes
tyre patches
multiool
2x tyre levers
shock pump
space blanket
small first aid kit
mobile phone
phone battery booster
spoke key
chain breaker
chain quick links
spare gear cable
zip ties
spare rear hanger
£10 and some change

I think whilst the NC500 is set to turn that wonderful piece of driving into a fair ground, what you are doing will let you see scotland, nice doing it at your own pace too. good work

A good list, Ian. I have a lot of it. But not the first aid or gear cable.

Agree re NC500. Long distance trails could be my new thing...

that's a blast from the past - I sold my Whyte 46 to Kenny Simpson last year, he still has it I believe.

It's a great trip, def weekend-friendly.

Much of the trail is straightforward. Lots is old trackbed but not surfaced that well. Some of it is rocky / bumpy / uncomfortable. Couple of bits are maybe to avoid. And a few bits are downright lovely!!

Just demolished smoked duck then decent fillet steak washed down with fine Shiraz. Protein-rich #becauseathlete :-)
