Yep seen BMW's not even managing the slightest slope in the snow. So when we got one, being out in the country, we knew x-drive was essential.
Its been a really capable car in the bad weather and not really had to put winters on it, however that's more due to the winters being pretty mild of late. Will be sad to see it go in the next couple of weeks.

I live at the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere, good winter treads have never let me down in any of the Beemers - the e92 m3 was the best, proper Diff made for big drifts :-0 - I think the next one might well be x-drive and auto - I must be getting old - lol

+1 for Land Rover (defender). There are some similarities between my two - they are made in UK, have some aluminium, leak when it rains and incidentally, old defenders are worth as much as Elises!
Edit- were made in the UK...
