Review time back earlier.
Well never realised just how damn far Bruntingthorpe is, last major Mway sign showed London 105 miles
Thick fog on the way down on the Friday night carried through to the Saturday morning, missed the cooked brekky in the hotel to get to the airfield for 08:15. Track fog bound.
Queue for 20 mins to sign on as Sarah queues for ~25 mins for a coffee and bacon roll. ~200 people around.
Delayed till for 90 mins, weather, what can you do visibility was down to 50m. Cars are behind a rope so not looking round them. Thought I recognised the one by the rope thought and yup it was the Evo long termer. The owner comes down and offers hot laps or drives for it on a pay on the day. That and the Gallardo payg car had heavy noise restrictors on the exhausts.
Another 25 mins wait on another coffee.
Clears enough for the "Demo lap" where you sight in a Scoob with an instructor to see where the corners are. Wait for about 20 mins till I manage to get to the front and have my turn.
Now I have done the "Demo lap" I get my first drive. Wait ~20 mins on the Lambo stand (there a various Marques avail, I got the double lambo
)
Meet instructor and get shown round the car, "~500bhp V10 with 3 wheel drive, it can bite though I have seen it spin in second on the straight". Get in or my 4 laps, no warm up sighting lap.Meet the instructor and good guy, race driver and had driven KH a lot and spent a lot of time during the week in S2 Exiges.
Initial feel was it was fast but not that fast, I was concentrating hard as there are several million worth of car on track but the mirrors are setup for the instructor not me so I could not see jack sh*t and was relying on him telling me if it was safe to turn in. But why was I not impressed with the speed ?
Off to the karting section prior to V12 time.
Could no be arsed trekking back to my car and opt to use one of the scabby loan lids. It was stinky. Anyways, a 10 year old (no seriously) tells me left stop right go pedals. Off I set out of the pits. Get a feel for it, not fast karts but hey. Erm where is everyone. Yes I have the track to myself. Do my 15 mins or so and come in. Good fun but point lost when you are on your own.
Right V12 time, short queue of about 15 mins then I get my turn. Take over the car by an older instructor. He asks to see my right foot lifting and going to the brake to ensure nothing was catching. Comments on the fancy speedcats. I joke about heel toeing and I get a friendly but stern, this is a Experience day not a track day. Chat tom him about me being crap on track and Knockhill and he gives healthy pointers etc when on track. Oh yeas for got about that. Pull out of the pits again blind and nail it in second, woomp, odd, instructor shouts shift up, woomf, "again", 4th now and in a ~120 degree left hander, "floor it", bit nervous lot of BHP but fcuk it I have paid my £20 excess earlier. Woomf stutter stutter. Hmmmmm
Last lap and "do you want to go on the high speed straight missing the cone chicane", refrained from my usual fcuk Aye Jock McKay and nodded and out we went and nailed it again, up to fifth this time and 110mph indicate, stutter stutter ....
Thank him when we got in and then a 15 min wait for my high speed lap, a lap in a scoob again 4 up but more spirited with the instructor zipping past the Lambos, 360s, AMV8, DB9, 355, S2 Lote, Tuscan, Caterham etc.
Off to the photo tent to pick up the CD and mounted pick, 20 min queue to choose the pics, then 5 min queue to pay the £25 for them.
Got to admit I was disappointed.
1. Queuing, okay I had memories of my Palmer days in my mind but the queuing was ridiculous
2. Track etiquette was fcuk shocking, no marshals, instructors did not know each other and as I got in the Gallardo another instructor came over to bullock mine as prior there was an incident where one indicate to let past then pulled out and there was inches between them.
3. Sweating their product, £200+ for the gift, £20 for £2000 excess waiver, £25 for photos
4. fcuk REV LIMITERS. Planning on writing to the organisers and asking for a 50% refund. As I walked to each Lambo I was told "500BHP" etc, yeah if you have the whole range the Murc had a 4k soft limit and a 4.5k hard limit, WTF ? 580.0 bhp @ 7500 rpm 479.4 ft lbs @ 4000-5400 rpm "Enter 4000rpm, the V12 comes into life"
Looking around at the people there and it was aimed at those who have never been near a fast car and are living a dream by simply sitting next to them. Maybe I have become numb hanging around with you lot in fast cars and am not really aware of the luxury of spending time a KH really is.
Anyways still an experience to have and was a fun day out, some pics from the day.

Farking shame Sanjoy
That 37 AC Gallardo was next to us at the campsite at Le Mans this year, everytime he fired it up he revved the nuts off it then would cruise about with england flags stuck in the front bonnet shutlines.
He was a big muscley w@nker with a mullet.
Or maybe I was just jealous

Sorry to hear it was a dissapointment Sanjoy. Least you got some nice pics though! Definately complaint or make your opinion heard.
I felt the same way about the Ferrari Experience at knockhill, and they don't even tell you the cars a left hooker, very rushed and I've also been waiting 5 months for photos!! Eventually made a complaint and got an offer of 20% off another experience big whoop and still don't have the fcuking photos! I also got told that the reason the car is LHD was and I quote "The car is a true Italian super car, direct from Italy which does come with a left hand drive" so not a cheap import from Germany then?
The evo long termer posts on pistonheads as simonspider and that blue gallardo with the england flags is also there as someone-cumming can't remeber exactly.

those 'bafflers' are chunks of scaffolding pole! REad about them in Evo last month, having been fired off accidentally on a hot lap
Gutted for you that it was a disappointment mate, but pleased you've given us a heads-up; it may have been something our friends/rellies would have thought a good prezzie for us!

I recently attend your Lamborghini Experience day on Saturday and was somewhat disapointed. In the T&Cs on your site it specifically detailed that the day was for novices and experienced drivers.
The sales blurb details the 500BHP Gallardo and even more powerful murcielago. This was reiterated when being shown the car on Saturday. What disapointed me was the rev limiters on the cars. The Murcielago had a 4k soft limit and a 4.5k hard limit. This would not have even given 50% of the quoted BHP on the power band. THe Gallardo had a similar limiter.
As a result I would like a 50% refund. Can you please contact me to discuss.

Sorry you will need to give me more details.
Also did you raise any issues on the day to any unhappiness on the day & did you ask whether there were any rev limits on the cars before purchasing your go?
Sanjoy wrote
Hi, I did not fully raise the issue on the day as I had been told by my first instructor that it was a drivers experience day and not a track day. This coupled with instructors insitence to change up gear as we hit the 4k limit made me realise the situation.
When my girlfirend bought me the package she specifically looked for caveats about rev limiters as she posted about it on the Lotus forum I use and the members there told her what to look for and she did but saw no mention of it so proceeded with the order.
Darren wrote
As clearly stated on your itinery if you have any issues on the day you must raise them on the day to allow the organizers fair opportunity to look into the facts on the day. As you did not do this I am afraid there is nothing further we can do to help, as the rev limits may have been down to your ability needing to be controlled, but we cannot now find out as the instructor cannot possibly be asked to remember the facts of all drivers now.
Sorry we cannot help any further.
Sanjoy wrote
So would it be fair to say the cars would have had their ECUs reprogramemd on the day if the instructed had deemed me able ?
Darren wrote
None of the cars actually have any rev limits installed on them, if the engine was being cut it will have been via a kill switch in the instructors hand.
Sanjoy wrote
So you can confirm that no refund will be granted even thought no mention of the instructors kills switch on your web site or in any of the briefings ?
Radio silence

Sanjoy was the SG54 (ie EVO) lambo there for hot laps or was it one of the cars you got to drive?
Wonder if its one of his companies / interests as he always goes on in EVO about it "paying for itself on trackdays"
Shame it doesn't sound like much fun

That sucks Sanjoy what a sh*t excuse - I'd keep on them.
That guy simon said that the Murci cost him £24k to run last year but he'd made £19k by taking it to events and shows etc.... not too bad I suppose!
