Track days at KH... what's recommended
Track days at KH... what's recommended
Had a good time at the SIDC events in the past, but don't want to wait till Oct for the next one....what other sessions are worth going to where the etiquette is decent?
Cheers

Trackscotland days are well run also,
Similar to SIDC days,
I probably do an even mix of both and would recommend either.
I also recently did a Knockhill run trackday and it was very good - better behaved than they used to be and couldn't really fault it for anything.

Re: Track days at KH... what's recommended
The TrackScotland ones are well run, and there are also a few private evening during the summer months as well. Knockhill have started publishing a list of all their track activities on their website, but I'm not sure it includes the evening sessions. Best to give them a call and see what they have booked up.
Note that the prices quoted are +VAT, so the 2 hour evening sessions are actually £2400, but if you get 30 people then it's £80 each to cover the costs.
SIDC used to organise midweek evening sessions as well (with a Dunfermline or Edinburgh curry afterwards), but it meant me taking a half day holiday for each one and they were prone to people turing up late due work or the Forth Road Bridge.

I actually forgot,
Whilst looking to organise some testing for the S2000 in advance of the next SLS, I made a list of upcoming days.
I didn't include the next SIDC because it was October and that is too late for the next SLS.

So in theory you can book KH for a 2 hours slot by yourself for £2400 ?
Or is it more fun with more cars ?

I was in the same boat.........not being another SIDC day until October, me and a few mates were thinking about doing the 16th of July.
I was going to make up my own mind after a few people I know didn't recommend knockhills own days.

Re: Track days at KH... what's recommended
There was nothing available, as they no longer let us use the Saturday mornings before SMRC events as they now keep the whole day for testing, and same goes for the motorcycle races. When I asked for available dates, the only date available in August or September was the 24th Sept which I booked, but then got bumped to 8th October due to a corporate booking.ikarl wrote:John.... I'll ask if there are Friday or Saturday evenings available for a 2 hour session in July or August.
