My son also has had two oneplusone phones - first one was OK - second one suffered random lock up - fix was to leave it for 24-48 hours to fully discharge battery and then it came back to life - not much use if you actually want to call anyone in those couple of days :-) However, pretty cheap for what they are, but to me the thing has to make calls first and foremost - everything else secondary, though I now use it to read most emails on the way to/from work to try and cut down on the hours spent reading emails at work :-) If I read them on my telephone I don't feel guilty replying yes/no/mebz/whatevs ...

I'm one of the rare breed who rather likes my windaes phone, but my Lumia 925 is due for replacement (and has started freezing/switching itself off/losing battery life) and the new Microsoft phones don't appeal, so looking to buy outright....the new Samsung Galaxy a5 (2016 model) seems to tick the boxes and gets good reviews.

Data deals.

Happy with Three. 3 to 3 call quality is FM radio standard. Feel at Home roaming is excellent for my needs.

2gig data per mth is fine for me at present and allows hotspot tethering for my tablet & laptop for work. Although I may evaluate a 2nd sim for the tablet one day, as it's slowly replacing my laptop. Less to lug.

My iPhone 5s also shuts down early when cold. As McKeano says, keep it warm in winter :-)

I also have a 2-port Lumsing battery pack which acts as my portable Aggreko!

I'm also disappointed with the 5s overall battery life but I think that's as much due to OS & app "upgrades". I'll prob move to an iPhone SE at renewal in Nov.

However, I'm so impressed with my Sony Z2 tablet that I may try their equivalent phone for fun. I'm a bit of a Sony fan generally...

Tut,

I did a similar thing last year by cancelling my satellite and changing over to a phone network mifi.

Due to coverage issues I had to go to O2 as they are the only ones with consistent signal where I live. Looks like you are getting a better deal as my O2 Mifi (Huawei 4G Pocket Hotspot Plus) is approx £28/month for 20Gb of data.

Maybe worthwhile chatting to Carphone Warehouse as they do a number of deals and are often cheaper than the network operators so you may get a cheaper price than going direct to the network provider.
