Hi All, I was wondering if anyone on here was a structural engineer that would be able help me out with a bit of advice.
I have a gable wall that you can pull some bricks out of as the mortar has failed. My usual builder wants to pull the wall down and rebuild at an eyewatering cost of £55k I have had another proposal where they remove the mortar and insert steel before replacing the mortar, this is conciderably cheaper. This is normally used when repairing cracks and I can understand why I just don't see what it does in our scenario.
P.S. if anyone thinks they can quote for doing the work I will hapily send you all the stuff. Building is grade B listed and we were looking to have it torn down and rebuilt and have an engineer oversee the work.

Kenny is I think, but isn't on here that often now? Worth a PM if he has emails set up from them?
