Have an Onkyo receiver. SR. 606
Seems that the amp protection circuit has been activated and I have followed the manufacturing instructions for reset but still no joy. Looking at the Internet it would appear that there is a problem with a transistor somewhere and I do not have the ability to fix same.
I was away when it packed in with a bang.
Anyone in the Aberdeen know how to fix this or should I go out and buy a new one. Have had the present one for 6 or 7 years...

Have you checked all your speaker connections? My Sony was switching off a few weeks ago with a similar alarm. Turned out the centre speaker connections were loose

If you have a link to the web site that describes the transistor failure I can no doubt repair it for you - I probably don't have the time to diagnose the problem from first principles.
So if somebody else has done all the hard work and all you need is the component identified, source replacement, fit, I can do that no problem.
Cheers,
Robin
