Yes I don't think the Chromecast supports multi room and is not as good an audio signal.
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Yes. original is a stick with hdmi out.

New one is a puck with hdmi out.

Audio is also a puck but has a 3.5mm jack/optical out.

Fast moving business this. Since my original post I see Apple music is now deliverable via Sonos and Spotify are offering 99p a month for 3 months as an introductory offer. Still haven't picked yet.

Spotify all the way. Offline is great, rarely lacks something I want. The radio feature is OK but could improve and I find it hard to think of what to look for!

OK chromecast audio.

IO have a Chromecast which is ace but do I need to subscribe to something to get it to play music. The Google play app won't let me play sideloaded music...

I think you have to frig the Chromecast to make it play music or play it through your television. The Chromecast audio is designed for music and now has multi room

Not sure what you mean by frig? I'm still using a Mk1 chromecast in the TV. Once google had made chromecast audio available, the CC appeared in the list of devices I could connect to using spotify connect. Works with no issues at all, switches from TV to CC like any other cast & displays the artwork on the TV screen.

Still have my Rocki play. Sound quality is better, as you'd expect, that the CC via TV. However, the connection can be a bit flaky & it means swithing the amp... so I've got lazy & use the CC mostly now. Going to investigate using the Rocki in the car via the 3.5mm jack at the weekend as the bluetooth I've got in there is crap.

Used to be £10, I stopped it and used Apple Music for free trail, didn't like it and resigned up for Spotify and it was £13 :(
Really? £10 here: https://www.spotify.com/uk/premium/

Sanj, as ddtb says, yes. Can now send music only via the Chromecast too. Save's me having to get up & switch the amp from TV to music. Dosent sound quite as good though as it's going via the TV. Will deal the rocki fire Chromecast audio soon I think.
Just realised I was paying 12.99 as I was paying through my apple account...now fixed!
