They are not great. However we do have Puddledub just behind us. The Boss is on the case with the options. Thanks for all the advice, will use them for future orders too rather than using the supermarkets.

Kerry, give John Dossett in Kintore a go if you're passing. Friendliest butcher in the world, and great local produce. We can feed the beefs over the fence round by the castle in the spring to make sure they're nice and fat for the BBQ in summer. :)

I think we are spoiled in Aberdeenshire, Collie's the Kemnay butcher is also excellent. But, I don't really do shopping other than a monthly visit to Costco, so if they don't have it I'll not be buying it. Fortunately Malou doesn't mind visiting shops more frequently.

I'm currently watering the cows at the back of the house. They have the whole Don to drink out of but prefer tap water! Boy they can drink.

Mitchells butcher operate a counter at Craigie Farm and the meat is always excellent. They're fife based so must be available somewhere near you?

Two butchers close to us

Laurncekirk has PJ scott http://craftbutchers.co.uk/butchers/ind ... n=scotland

They are 9/10 for me with some of the best sausages I have ever tried. Somewhat old school in his approach but that is never a bad thing.

And newly reopened is the butcher in inverbervie http://www.bannermanbutcher.com

No idea what they are like presently as they closed 3 years ago and the grandson is now running it. But they used to be excellent
