Essex Autosport

They have now reduced the price on the Honda Conversion from the original £10K.

We are also offering the conversion supplied and fitted at a special price from £7760 all inclusive (including engine, transmission, all parts and labour) (previously £8,995)

I wouldn't let them balance my wheels let alone anything else.

I used them twice and in both occasions I had to go elsewhere to get their shonky work rectified. That included the worst wheel balance I ever had and a damaged wheel that took me complaining about them publicly on SELOC to get it replaced after weeks of being ignored. When I posted about them I got 10 private messages from people with similar tales of woe but felt they couldn't complain publicly about them. You also head similar stories when you go meets.

They also fitted Nitrons and geo'd the car rendering the car undriveable on anything but smooth roads and under 50mph. When I jacked the car up there was zero droop travel and when I measured the height it was sitting on the floor. When I called them about this I got oh yeah we noticed that too.

On both occasions I was off to a French Frolic so their incompetence caused me a load of grief trying to get the car booked in somewhere else and on each occasion Steve Gugliemli came to the rescue and i've only used him since.

They also lied about the situation and slagged me off to Neil. It was this latter point that pissed me off more than anything else as I'm a really reasonable person, well in my view anyway. :)

I only went to them because of their connection to all things Lotus and it's not as if they are a short drive away. It took me almost 2 hours and two trains to go and collect the car.

I'm sure they have loads of satisfied customers but my experience of them was dire.

When I pulled apart apes old shed the two main engine mounts were in a bad way, fatigue cracks etc, had to have them repaired, strengthened and filleted elsewhere before they went back on, other than no direct experience of them..

Given that Neil drove it like he stole it, it's probably not air to blame Essex for the state of the engine mounts ;-)

Keith gave Clarky the number but forgot that was a before it was CC, so it was too short.
