I've a friend that has bought back her Hubby's late fathers old 1979 Mercedes 450 SLC and its been neglected for 10 or so years and needs restoration work. Other than CMC whom I've dropped a note to, does anyone know of anyone that could appraise the car and determine the best course of restoration to get her back in action?

I would take it to Merparts in Port Glasgow.
Repair of these can be pretty scary. Mechanically they aren't that complex but parts have gone really costly; mine needed wishbones and some callipers when I got it and it was a bit of money.
If its been outside I would expect the bulkhead to be shot. The woman I bought my 107 off had spent almost £10k on bodywork fixing all the standard rust points (sills and bulkhead). SLCs are pretty overshadowed by the SL but they are still cool.
