Bristow S76 crash

Post by tut » Tue Aug 18, 2015 6:02 pm

I don't know if anybody else heard of this as nothing was posted. The aircraft went down in Nigeria six days ago with twelve on board, six killed including the two pilots.

Can not believe nothing was posted in the news either on line or on TV, if it was I missed it.

There wasn't anything on the TV about it, but quite a bit of coverage of the news websites. I have quite a few friends on Facebook who work overseas in the industry, who posted up the links.

Most disturbing was one that showed a lot of smoke billowing from the engine area that must have been taken seconds before it hit the water :(

Suppose it was just a bit more applicable to me as I flew the S76 for Bristows for thirteen years.

Are you getting historical links? There was a S76 crash in Finland in 2005, 14 fatalities

Yes it was 2005, I am on PPRuNe.org and someone had added the findings of the accident report onto the post of the Lagos crash, so the date read 2015.

When I was flying the 212 on the North Sea, I had a co-pilot who used to say the following Prayer just before hitting the Start Button.

"Oh Lord, Please forgive me for flying this Bell Built, Bristow Maintained, piece of sh*t!".

He is happily retired now so looks as if prayer can work.
